This is the first time in a long time that we have a leadership that sounds/looks the part. I am extremely excited about this combination right now. We actually have 100% football men in charge of this franchise.
Wow. Maccagnan sounds like he really knows the game and the league. Liking that hire more and more as he speaks.
Recurring theme from Bowles: "we're gonna see what our guys can and can't do..." This is a fundamental principle that seemed to be lost during the Rex era. On a critical 3rd down, you would see Geno tossing it out wide to Ivory (who drops it, of course), the one RB on the roster who can't catch. It seems so simple, but it's a mistake you would never see out of NE. They put their players in the best position to succeed. They know Blount can't catch so they don't put him in a situation where they need to rely on him to make a catch. For the most part, in an obvious passing situation, he wouldn't even be on the field.
Bowles: "We're just trying to become the New York Jets and be a winning ball club. You can't beat the Patriots in February, and beating the Patriots isn't gonna cut it if you lose to everyone else".
He also stressed intangibles and what they feel players know how to do and not know how to do. I don't think he's going to tolerate dumb players. _
I'll have to wait to watch the replay (at work now) but can't wait to see it. I like what I'm hearing from what you guys are relaying!
Loving the new regime more and more.. No dumb "I have to be witty all the time" quotes.Just smart, head strong, football knowledgeable answers that sound like these men know what they are doing.
I was coming in here to post the exact same things. I've heard Bowls and Mac say "intangibles" countless times. Looks like they're both big on character I think that exludes DGB
"Accountability" was stated several times. After 6 years of Club Rex I'm a little worried players might not be ready for that.
