Kerley will never be a WR1, but he's a very useful complimentary player in the offense and can play special teams. I don't see a replacement waiting in the wings (that might have been why we drafted Saunders), so I don't see him going anywhere.
really? if he drops 20 % of his passes he should be cut immediately on the field. what are you talking about?
Well Rex hated him because he wasn't a practice guy, think it is more likely that the new regime values him more than the previous
Whatever. He's got better hands than Kerley. I like Kerley, but he's extremely expendable. He shouldn't even be in the same sentences as Cotchery.
That could be a function of his QB. Kerley just might be the middlin WR he appears to be OR, he might actually be better than we've seen so far. A lot of moving parts in this eval and as long as we got Good Geno/Bad Geno throwing him the ball, I don't see how we can judge fairly. Perhaps in Gailey's offense, we'll get a better look at the lot of them. Admittedly, our WR corps as it stands now isn't elite by any stretch. Not sure we can afford to lose a Kerley and not have it hurt at some point.
We JUST signed Kerley... unless Percy is taking a huge pay cut to become our slot WR (which would be kinda beastmode might i add) i just don't see how this even came about.
Kerly had no QB and saw double teams because he was the best on the field. As a high completion guy he his worth the money.
Kerley, Decker, and Amaro is our future big 3 on offense. They run great routes, can create space, and have reliable hands (Jace...he'll get more comfortable with time). No reason to split them up as they are all young and will continue to get better.
I was initially a big fan of Kerley's, and if he's retained of course I hope he succeeds. But on the Smith factor, as bad as Smith was last year he wasn't overall worse than he was in his rookie year. Yet Kerley actually had worse stats than in 13 on a per game basis. While that may have been to some extent because the Jets added Decker at wideout, it is a matter of concern.
Can't cut him without knowing the difference the new offense will make for his productivity. We're not hurting for cap room. If he were on another team and cut, McCagnan would probably consider bringing him in. ' Nuff Said.
Kerley played poorly last year which made the timing of his fairly generous extension unusual. With no replacement on the roster, I would bring him back to camp unless cutting him means the difference in being able to keep Harvin somehow.
Well we had a terrible GM, who didn't extend Mo Wilkerson, but gave Kerley a big contract when he wasn't playing well. I am glad Idsick is no longer here for that reason.
true. the kerley extension made zero sense....like if we hadn't wrapped him up, the rest of the league was gonna be pounding on his door
