If our prior front office (not just Izdik) would have gotten us a pro QB this wouldn't even be talked about. Being what it is, we have to go for him if he is available
Todd wasn't dumb and he wasn't violent. I think he's had a successful career in investments. But Serby was asking for it and he gave it to him but good.
As long as we don't draft Winston or defense in the first round, I don't see how we could go wrong with any pick at 6.
Yeah people don't realize how good he was playing before he tore the ACL and had he finished the season and performed at the senior bowl and combine, the guy was going late first round. The guy was throwing lasers at LSU. They may have gotten themselves a true steal. If they pick Mariota, I'd inquire about Mett. _
Defense is not out of the question, and depending on other moves in free agency, it might be the right move. Too early to tell
I don't know if he was dumb...he started close to 100 games for us. How dumb could he be?...football or otherwise. Those teams didn't do a whole lot, but I certainly appreciated what they left on the field. Guys like Klecko and Field...Todd and O'Brien. I realize it's a different game now....but I'd still rather have Wayne Chrebet on my team over Santonio Holmes.
If he drops past the Titans, we'll move up with Jacksonville to get him. Jags can still scoop a pass rushers up at #6 very easily.
This really depends on compensation, obviously they would not ask for a skins/rams ransom but I'm not sure we can afford to lose a high pick in him. I imagine them wanting at least a couple second rounders.
I think Maccagnan knows they have to be aggressive and get "their guy" after watching the backlash with Idzik. Not saying be dumb, but don't take a chance if he's the guy you want as long as it's within reason.
I can get on board with this kind of scenario. That trade works because it allows us to fill more holes/add depth with more picks, and it arms us with picks if we want to trade up for a potential franchise Qb in the 2016 Draft. Having said that, I still would rather have Mariota this year. Call it instant gratification, I suppose.
Great plan with only one flaw. No franchise QBs next year. No one in Winston's or Mariota's class. _ This is the year to finally grab our franchise QB. Two great prospects and a low enough pick to be in play for one of them. I too would rather have Mariota this year but it has nothing to do with instant gratification. It has to do with salvation for this cursed franchise. _
The bold says it all. The fly in the ointment is Philadelphia. I think they feel the same way, and they will attempt to leapfrog the Jets and grab him at 3, 4 or 5. That is my fear. It the Jets want him bad they will probably have to move up. May be I'm just paranoid, but the selection for the the first 6-8 will be a big chess game this year. Further, I am not as quick to dismiss Tampa not picking MM at one and let him sit for a year. Winston is not my choice for the Jets.
If he is going to fall to us, I say take him. UNLESS the Iggles want to give us the farm for our 6th spot.
