This ought to be interesting.... Who would you rather have... And if you feel inclined, please defend your vote.
Glennon will cost the Jets a pick, Mallett will not. Given we currently have 6 picks, I would prefer to not lose anymore.
Mallet because Glennon had a chance as a starting QB and his team gave up on him. What would be different in NY that would suddenly make Glennon more attractive than he was to the Bucs in TB?
That's faulty reasoning. Mallett had trade value and Brady is going nowhere. Made no sense for the Pats to keep him.
Can't agree with this either. There was major political nonsense going on in TB with Schiano. Glennon was unfortunately a part of it as was Freeman. Lovie brought in his own guy to try and win sooner. So to say TB gave up on him as a clear cut scenario just isnt quite true.
Glennon was the draft pick of the previous regime in 2013. Then Lovie and co. came in favored McCown from the start. Check Glennon's numbers in 2013 and even 2014. They're way better than Geno everywhere and way better than McCown. This guy showed a ton of promise and didn't get a fair chance. He already boasts a 2:1 TD:INT ratio through just two seasons in the league... That's really good by any QBs standards through two years. Mallet has shown absolutely nothing in the NFL in his career. He's started, what, a game or two? The answer is Glennon even if it cost a 5th or 6th round pick. And to me, it's not even close.
If Glennon was in this draft hed be an early 2nd rounder. Not saying that's what we should give up for him but a 4th would be reasonable.
Does Glennon come with Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans? I'm not trading any of our picks until we figure out the Percy situation. Glennon, Mallett - these guys aren't long-term starters. 2 yr stop-gaps at best.
yeah, in addition to not really getting the Glennon hype in general trading a pick for him seems kind of pointless. is he really that much better than the available QB's that we need to give up a pick for him?
Then why draft Jimmy G? I live in Maine surrounded by Patriots fans they hated Mallett, he couldn't even hack it in there system which made Matt Cassell look good!
I would rather have neither as it is doubtful either of these two QBs would be much competition for the starting job. If we ended up signing either I think it would be a clear sign that Geno is the starter for 2015. I would much rather focus on Bradford or Locker who would have a decent chance of winning the QB job. But of the two I would prefer Mallet as he has the greater upside.
