yeah, I was skeptical of Bill Parcells. But that 12-4 year was awesome!! you know, until Keith Byars fumbled, Victor Green bit on a run fake, and Chad Casscaden fumbled a kickoff.

And then, next year, Curtis Martin fumbled and Vinny ruptured his Achilles...and the rest is something to Groh on...

I am very thankful for him turning around this franchise, he took us out of the stone age but long term he did hurt us no doubt.

If your going to quote a story you might actually want to read more than the headline. The above quote in your story almost certainly confirms Archie Manning's story as true that Peyton and wanted to play for the Jets but only if Parcells would commit to using the 1st pick on Peyton and that Parcells refused to commit to Archie when they met. Pareclls tries to dance around why he did not commit and goes on to say he they likely would have taken him and they had a pretty good idea of what would have happened. But that is the problem Manning only wanted to play for the Jets and Parcells and thats why Archie wanted a commitment from Parcells before he would come out.

Quite a lot of times. You said in 2011-2012 off-season that Sanchez was better than Manning and that Manning was a product of a an overly talented Colts team. You further went on to say that when Manning signed with the Broncos that they did not have the talent of the Colts and Manning would struggle to even make the playoffs and that he would be exposed. Since then you have repeatedly attacked Manning at every opportunity in between calling people names who disagree with you as you say you are not an average fan. That I will agree with you as you are an amazingly above average fan in that you are always wrong. Just recall your 4 year Herm Edwards is going to the hall of fame crusade, followed by your spamming of these boards endlessly for years about Sanchez, your Shottenheimer is great crusade, your Manning is a not a good QB crusade all leading up to your impending masterpeice of Idzik is a matyr campaign which I am glad to see you cancelled and now have gotten rid of the Idzik avatar. Another 4 years of watching you write about the greatness of John Idzik would be just too much to stomach.

Unfortunately I have read your posts. The problem with your posts is not the content. There are lots of bad posters and lost of people on who cannot admit when they are wrong. In one sense I admire your stubborness and I think unlike most bad posters your an actual "true" fan. The problem with your posts is the way you treat other people with your attitude, name calling and then lying about what you have preciously said despite being caught and called out. To be so consistently wrong and then call other posters names and say you right because your smarter or them or because you say your an "above average fan" is what gets you in trouble and makes your posts so offensive. If you just cut out the arrogance and name calling your posts and the discussion of them would improve dramatically.

That's a nice story, this is a dream...

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Peyton Manning arrives at the Jacob Javits Center for Super Bowl XLVIII media day, sharing a few laughs with his coach, Rex Ryan, as he walks to his interview podium. Manning, wearing his number eighteen white New York Jets jersey, flashes his upraised right index finger, reminiscent of Joe Namath's victory celebration at Super Bowl III. He seems totally at home.

Because he is. He's only 25 miles from the Jets' state of the art Chrebet Center at Hofstra University, opened in 2011 after a Leon Hess and Woody Johnson imposed exile in New Jersey finally ended. He'd rather have been on Elba. Midway between where Manning stands and that Hofstra facility is the site of Sunday's game at the Twin Towers Memorial Complex in Flushing Meadows, a site the stunning Namath Stadium shares with the Mets' Citi Field, the National Tennis Center and Wang Arena, home of the six time Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders. His personal residence, shared with his four kids and singer wife Jennifer Lopez is nearby on the resurging Brooklyn waterfront where the Mannings have built the eighteen story On the Block development and occupy the entire eighteen thousand square foot penthouse.

"I'm excited to be in another Super Bowl, representing the New York Jets," Manning begins. Adding a third Lombardi trophy would be all the sweeter for him after last year's NFL restructuring moved this week's opponent, the New England Patriots to the NFC , setting up the first rematch for these two former AFC East arch rivals.

Asked how he felt facing New England's Tom Brady and Bill Belichick again, this time for the biggest prize in football, Manning barked "Can't wait!"

That's not how this internet thing works. When you make a claim, especially when invoking "common knowledge", the onus is on you to back up the claim. Did you know that it's common knowledge that Charles Manson is actually a very nice guy?

Cheaters win. What a shitty lesson to have to learn. Goodell has fucked up the NFL beyond repair.

That's correct... He and his father wanted to be a jet. Parcells dropped the ball on this one. Lol he didn't want to do a full rebuild

There's no definite proof that Peyton would have declared for the draft if Parcells had said he'd draft him first overall only really vague innuendo by his mother

    http://www.nytimes.com/1997/04/16/sports/manning-may-have-been-waiting-for-sign-from-the-jets.html

Nothing definite, but there's also absolutely nothing that says he stayed in school because the Jets wanted to draft him like the first guy said

That Parcells quote from champjets69 was just a copout about not being able to contact Manning directly even though all he had to do was announce that he wasn't trading his first overall pick which he ended up doing because he was always a puss in the draft

You can't beat Parcells up too much for us not landing Peyton Manning.

Had we passed up the opportunity to bring Parcells in we would have still been a loser franchise and Archie would have urged Peyton to stay in school rather than play for us.

The reason he stayed in school is that his father did not want him to get traded to a loser franchise like the Saints team that he played for.

Bill Parcells brought respectability, leadership, and discipline back to a team that had lost its way. We were an absolute joke when he came here and have been one of the better teams in the league since he came here.

Bringing Parcells here was all about winning now and never was about depending on a rookie QB to develop in a few years. Considering that he got us as close as we have been to a Superbowl win in thirty years and left us with Chad Pennington it seems that we got the best of both worlds.
