Seeing this made me wonder if we have one ... skimming the article they mention the Chiefs and Pats team Chaplains, so I was wondering if every NFL team has one, and if so who is ours? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12250363/patriots-love-deflategate
That awkward moment when the pillars of your religious beliefs are best expressed by a character from Star Wars.
FTR, I don't think it's appropriate to pray for something frivolous, like your team winning. But I do like the idea of sports teams having team chaplains. Many athletes are also very religious, so it's good that they have a way to incorporate their faith in their busy schedules.
Yes we have a chaplain just don't piss off the nuns there Patriot fans and were trained by Aaron Hernandez
From the article: "Once retired, Adam made the natural transition from the NHL to Pastoring a church in NYC." Natural transition? Is that where most former NHLers go. I did not know that.
LOL! ..... I have to say, there have been some funny posts here! A common misconception....Priests and Nuns are just regular people like you and I, and they often have a wonderful sense of humor, often people outside the Church think Nuns are crabby old ladies that whack school kids with rulers all day long, and Priests are stern humorless dictators, nothing could be further from the truth! There's a new series on Lifetime TV (a secular, ie. non-religious network) called "The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns" that is a reality show following the discernment process of a group of young women considering becoming Nuns....it's very realistic (I discerned a possible religious calling at one time in my life, so I know what that's like), and it shows how nice and funny the real Nuns depicted in that show are, Nuns from several different convents across the country. It's even interesting and entertaining for guys (I'm a dude btw, so I was discerning the Priesthood or Brotherhood earlier in life, not the Sisterhood lol). http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/the-sisterhood-becoming-nuns But back to the topic of this thread, I agree with those who say that it's kind of odd that there are Chaplains in team sports but not in other lines of work. It just goes to show how universal religion is, despite the liberal media's agenda of covering it up and distorting it. For example, over 80% of Americans are religious, and most of the good charitable work done in this country (and around the world) is done by religious institutions. But the media never focuses on that, instead they focus on the handful of abusive Priests, Rabbi's, and other clerics, ignoring the fact that over 99% of religious are good, honorable, virtuous people. And those who are abusive are not true religious, they are haters who infiltrate the Church in an attempt to undermine religion. (Stalin even spoke of this strategy at one time to try to destroy the Church)
I don't think that's entirely true. Hospitals have chaplains, some police and firefighter forces, the military, some schools, prisons, etc. Not as common in private businesses, but they are in other lines of work. _
