I haven't seen anyone "riding his dick like he's a sure thing" on here. Quite the contrary actually, everyone that wants us to get Mariota(myself included) have said from the get-go that we don't see him being successful right out of the gate and that he should sit for, at least, a year. Nobody is saying he's the next Luck. I know Mariota has his flaws but I think he has all the intangibles that go into becoming a successful NFL QB, and that is why I want him on the Jets. I don't think this team is even close to being able to compete for a championship so I'm perfectly fine with sacrificing next season if it will reap rewards for following seasons.
Sorry should of clarified, kipper and all them were all over him during the season but now people are smarten up. Personally I think Winston will be way better than Mariota.
I'm not even sure where this thread is going. What I will add to it is that I really like Danny Shelton. ... Like A LOT! I believe that by drafting Shelton, pairing him up with Snacks in a 4-3 alignment with Richardson and Wilkerson as the Ends we will have a completely dominant DL that will over match any OL we face. I have stated that this front 4 would be very similar to the one the Ravens had in 2000. This DL would dominate the pocket allowing our LB's to be free rushers at the QB. We would never have to "run-blitz" as there would be no way a team would ever be able to run on us. Also, pairing him up with college teammate Hau'oli Kikaha (2nd round pick) would give us an explosive edge rusher we have desperately needed. With all that being said, no way we should spend the #6 pick on Shelton, and I have no idea who we should take.
He is far from terrible, he just has a few too many red flags for my liking. Wouldn't mind having him though if the Jets feel he's worth the 6th pick.
If Jets fans really want someone who can hand the ball off and throw screen passes, there is no reason to waste a draft pick on Marcus, just sign me for $10 a game. But if you want an actual QB you're going to have to look
I'll wait and see what we do in free agency. If we trade for Cousins or Foles that'd eliminate Mariota. If we trade for Larry Fitzgerald that'd eliminate Cooper. And so on.
If we trade for Cousins and that eliminates Mariota we will continue being the laughingstock franchise we've been. Sure hope Macagnan is smarter than that.
I wouldn't count on either trade happening. I don't think that Mac will treat draft picks as trivially as Tanny did.
If Ray, nor Cooper are available. (I truly don't want to buck all the odds on Mariota, or Wilson, even if they ARE available), then I say we trade back for more picks. IMHO
Trading for Fitzgerald would make zero sense. He has a huge salary and has lost productivity (even when palmer was playing well this year before getting hurt).
