Give me Kareem Jackson over all the cornerback free agents

    Rahim moore is fine

The inside linebackers are weak. And harris is 31 if he signs for 3 mil maybe

    Iupati, Spiller
And some vet as a backup QB

I don't get this mentality. He's either good or bad, what he makes shouldn't be a factor.

Or this mentality. I hope we find some Vet who can be the starter. Going out looking for back-ups is a sure fire path to an average team.

I know what you mean but we could use him as a gap player. We rushed millner into the starting line up And I don't think he was ready. So if we do draft an CB lets say 2nd round he won't feel the pressure of having to go out their and be thrown out to the wolves the first week of the season. We have young corners so what's wrong with having a veteran CB who happened to play in this same defensive system and was in New York for 4+ years.

What Harris makes should be a factor you don't overpay and waste your wad of cash just to waste a wad of cash on old talent that keeps slowing down every year.

As for the QB the draft stinks, if we get lucky and get one of the top 2 qbs trade Geno for a 6th or 7th round pick and this free agent class is nothing to go crazy about, Hoyer or Sanchez are the best free agents. maybe Bradford or someone else will get cut but can you rely on a player like that.

Rome wasn't built in one day. This team is atleast 3 years away.

Orlando Franklin OL, Rahim Moore S, Kareem Jackson CB, and Matt Moore QB. We can draft the rest, WR-CB-OLB-ILB-OL-QB in no order. Best player available in positions.

I think it's reasonable to assume/expect that the Jets would sign some FAs from the Cardinals, Texans and/or Dolphins, since their new GM, and members of their CS are from those teams.

Following are lists of FAs from those teams, with players in whom I think the Jets may have interest bolded. Of those players, Matt Moore and Louis Delmas are probably the two I'd like to see signed the most. I like Acho, but would prefer Jason Worrilds at OLB.

    Arizona
    Antonio Cromartie, CB

    John Abraham, OLB
    Dan Williams, DT
    Rob Housler, TE
    Sam Acho, OLB

    Tommy Kelly, DT
    Jonathan Dwyer, RB
    Larry Foote, ILB
    Marcus Benard, OLB

    Chris Clemons, S

Acho is probably the best of this group. Foote is older, but if Harris signs elsewhere or wants too much money, he may be a short-term stop gap. Cro could very well be headed back to the Jets. Bernard would be more of a depth-type signing, I don't know much about Housler and if he's a good blocker, but could be an option for depth.

    Houston
    Kareem Jackson, CB
    Brooks Reed, OLB

    Ryan Pickett, DT
    Danieal Manning, S
    Kendrick Lewis, FS
    Ryan Mallett, QB
    Derek Newton, OT

Jackson would be the #1 CB the team needs, and a number of posters on this site would love to add him. Reed would add some speed and youth to the OLB position. lewis could be a cheaper option than Louis Delmas at FS. Mallett is listed only because he is a veteran QB. I have no idea if the Jets have any interest in him, however. I don't know how good Newton is or anything aside from the fact that he is Houston's starting RT. Several posters have said they'd like to see Giacomini moved inside and a new RT drafted or brought in. For that reason, I listed Newton.

    Miami
    Matt Moore, QB
    Louis Delmas, FS

    Knowshon Moreno, RB
    Jared Odrick, DT
    Daryn Colledge, G
    Samson Satele, C
    Charles Clay, TE
    Jimmy Wilson, S
    Jason Trusnik, LB
    Jason Fox, OT
    Kelvin Sheppard, LB
    Daniel Thomas, RB

The Jets need a vet QB and aside from perhaps Shaun Hill, Matt Moore is probably the best imo. Delmas is an excellent FS and would give the Jets the best ball-hawking DB they've had in a long time. He would certainly help create more TOs. Colledge is 32, I think, but could perhaps be a stopgap answer at one of the OG positions while some of the younger players develop. Clay would be a great addition to the TE corps. Sheppard could conceivably be Harris' replacement at ILB if Harris signs elsewhere or wants too much money.

Problem with making Cro a FS is his poor tackling skills.

Because it is common for corners to become safeties when they get older.

FAs I'd like to see the Jets sign.

OG - one of James Carpenter (Seahawks starting LG, age 25); Orlando Franklin (Denver Broncos starting LG, age 27); Clint Boling (Cincinnati Bengals' starting LG, age 25). Iupati (age 27) is too expensive.

QB - one of Shaun Hill (age 35), Matt Moore (age 30)

TE - one of Charles Clay (Dolphins, age 25); Jermine Gresham (Bengals, age 26); Julius Thomas (Broncos, age 26); Jordan Cameron (Browns, age 26); Ed Dixon (Panthers, age 27)

WR - one of Jeremy Maclin (Eagles, age 26); Demaryius Thomas (Broncos, age 27); Randall Cobb (Packers, age 24); Denarius Moore (Raiders, age 26)

ILB - one of Brandon Spikes (Bills, age 27); Rolando McClain* (Cowboys, age 25); Jamari Lattimore (Packers, age 26)

OLB - one of Jason Worrilds (Steelers, age 26); Pernell McPhee (Ravens, age 26); Sam Acho (Cardinals, age 26); Brooks Reed (Texans, age 27)

CB - one of Kareem Jackson (Texans, age 26); Byron Maxwell (Seahawks, age 26); Tramon Williams (Packers, age 31); Chris Culliver (Niners, age 26); Antoine Cason (Ravens, age 28); Brandon Flowers (Chargers, age 28)

    FS - one of Louis Delmas (Dolphins, age 27); Rahim Moore (Broncos, age 24); Kendrick Lewis (Texans, age 26); Chris Conte (Bears, age 25);

    * Has he been playing in a 3-4 or 4-3?

Maxwell or Jackson. A safety. Maybe Acho. And a good guard. After that, filler for the bench

To me, priorities for free agency should go to OG and CB since those are spots where immediate starters are absolutely necessary and realistic.

Orlando Franklin might be my top choice due to his versatility, youth, and balanced skill set unlike Iupati who is a little more one-dimensional. Another good option could be Clint Boling.

At CB, I think Cromartie makes a lot of sense and has the added bonus of probably coming cheaper than Byron Maxwell (if he were to even hit the market).

Wouldn't be opposed to an impact FS like Rahim Moore or especially Devin McCourty. It wouldn't be crazy for one or either of these guys to hit the market since both of their teams are a bit cash-strapped.

I think I'd like a pass rusher like Sam Acho or O'Brien Schofield to mix with Coples, Babin, Reilly/IK, and hopefully an additional rookie from somewhere in the draft.

Cobb is good but we have Kerley. Chances are Harvin won't return unless he agrees to a substantial cut. He's going to have to take one no matter where he goes but might prefer going to a contender. And don't forget Qb. I like Hoyer but I read that the Browns could be interested in bringing him back and he's from that area. Maybe Matt Moore. As for a Fb/TE not sure we don't have someone already on our roster. When used offensively the few times he got a chance the Terminator looked pretty good. And Tommy Bohannon is coming back. These guys are not as good as Clay. It depends really on the scheme. The fullback on the Jets under Marty not too involved in the offense.

Justin Houston is the top OLB on the market, and 26, but he'll also be the most expensive.
