I know the Pats are in the SB so we can't contact him for awhile, but McDaniels is a superstar offensive coordinator, and could do wonders for Geno Smith and our offense. If he doesn't land one of the remaining HC jobs, perhaps we could entice him to make a lateral move by making him the highest paid OC in the league (if he isn't already), and giving him the title "Assistant Head Coach". With Bowles being a defensive guy who knows little about offense, his choice of OC is crucial to his success. He should invest major resources in the offensive side, including paying big bucks to bring in a top OC. McDaniels would essentially be a "co-HC", or the "HC of the offense." With Bowles' defensive brilliance and McDaniels' offensive brilliance, our coaching staff would be among the best in the league! Get it done fellas!
I've heard several experts say it's important for a young, inexperienced HC to hire coordinators who have much experience, preferably Head coaching experience. So, in that aspect, it makes sense.
Why would he want to go from being OC of Tom Brady to OC of Geno Smith? Assistant HC wouldn't do it, if we wanted McDaniels we'd have to make him HC but the position is currently filled. Adam Gase is the man who should have a thread about him.
I never trust Offensive Coordinators who work with star QB's. I'm not saying that they cant be great coaches but you always have to remember who they were coaching during their time with an organization.
I think McDaniels is a lot more proven than Gase. Peyton Manning is the real OC in Denver, Gase is the puppet who gets to have the title while basically watching Manning run that offense.
That's a valid point, but the Pats offense has been much more explosive since McDaniels took over. Look at the Pats offense before and after McDaniels arrived, and you will see the difference he's made.
McDaniels definitely has the better resume. Only thing is he's happily employed unless we offer him HC which we can't.
I see your point, and you may be right. But it can't hurt to reach out to him, just in case he wants a new challenge...maybe he'd prefer working with a young, dynamic Bowles as opposed to old, stodgy, anal retentive, paranoid Belichick? ...and I never saw anywhere that Caldwell has been officially hired yet. He's in the Gailey situation isn't he?
seriously? This thread is awful Josh McDaniels? What's the anchor to this, go get Joe Walton or Bruce Coslet?
Brian Costello @BrianCoz 2m2 minutes ago Jets officially hire Chan Gailey as OC #nyj /end of ludicrous thread
