Our 1st pick will and should be Lamarr Woodley. He is the pass rusher we desperetley need. Alan Branch is good but I also like another junior who might go pro..and that is Frank Okam 6'5 315 lbs..He can also clog the middle. We have 2 second round picks hopefully one of these guys will be available.
Best part of all is not only do we have this good pick but also Washington and our own 2nd round pick so we can do quite alot of good stuff this draft.
i put up all kinds of branch hilights at another unnamed Jets website in the draft forum. the dude is a beast. but he is a junior. and he may not come out. and even if he does, he may take time to develop. that's just the way of the walk. don't expect an overnight transition into top 5 defense if we draft branch, whose probably going to play 3-4 DE anyway {and 4-3 DT}.
OMG....are the Jets having that bad a year ALREADY that we are talking about the draft in October.......LOL
as far as nose tackle goes I think we should address that need in free agency and use the draft for something else. it usually takes those boys a couple years to develop and drafting one to start right away would be a bad option (unless we wanna deal with another year of our run D sucking!) I think a good option would be like New England and pick up a stop-gap solid beast (Ted Washington) and still think towards the future by drafting another big man (Vince Wilfork). something like that would be good.
I think it is a little early to discuss teh draft, but a NT should be in the running for a day one pick. Pending how Pouha is recovering and what FA are available, it is certainly a position of need, although I dont know if it warrants the 1st round pick.
Like phubbadaman said...way too early to talk draft strategy. Obviously defense is going to be their focus next draft as we spent our first three draft picks on offense this past draft. I think OLB will be the first pick.

The problem is, that Alan Branch and Okam mentioned after, are way too tall. You want your prototypical nose tackle to be short, fat, stout, and strong in the arm. Not just huge and athletic. There are exceptions to the rule if you're an absolute mammoth, but Branch is being looked at, as your Richard Seymour of the draft, rather than your Casey Hampton. Amobi Okoye is really the only true nose tackle of the senior class right now. Tall nose tackles get stood up, by good centers and pushed back. We need a short stubby nose tackle, to push the center back, by getting under him and forcing backs into a pile of defenders.
