Right now, John Fox is by far the best head coach on the market and his whole staff is up for grabs with him. Everyone else is miles away from Fox!!!!!
Fox was 46-18 and at least he knows what a good quarterback looks like. Plus he could bring his staff with him. It's stupid not to have him in for a talk, he won't be on the street long!
Assuming the Jets are still interested in Quinn, and with Bowles scheduled for an interview tomorrow, the smart move is to interview Fox to buy some time. Yes there's some chance Bowles goes to Atlanta before the Jets make a final decision on him. But Atlanta may well interview Fox now, too. This is a dynamic process.
My choice would be to bring in Fox. Do I envision he or any of these other coaches fetching us a championship? No. Do I think Fox is a long-term coach? No. Do I think Fox can bring this team back to the playoffs and respectability within a couple of years. Yes. Do I think that he can be a stabilizing force? Yes, especially with the right assistant that can become his successor. This team needs somebody with a successful background & high credibility, especially with a first time GM. It's always enticing to try to find that next great coach from the coordinator ranks, but that's higher risk. I'd like to see us bring in a reliable coach, so we don't go through the same old who's to blame discussions (coach/GM/players/coordinators).
The poll lets me vote for two HCs. I like that option. Bowles and Fox would be a terrific combo. Once we get tired of one, we can fire him and keep the other. Saves us a whole round of interviews. I see no downside.
