The Patterson signing was decent at the time considering that he was a solid CB the last few seasons. Goodson was talented but I'll give you that. Chris Johnson had a decent season after a slow start. I'm sure if Idzik knew Patterson would've gone AWOL he probably wouldn't have signed him. But you know that's a part of life shit happens.
ah, didn't know n.j. was that high. but texas and florida based teams haven't had much success so i don't know how big of a factor it is.
Idzik wasn't a good GM (yet). But he wasn't a bad one either. After two years you can't fairly give him a grade. He did some good things like clear out the cap problems left to him by Tannenbaum. Now the new GM has a much easier road for 2015 because he has money. You can't judge a draft the same year you selected the players. It's as simple as that. If you say the Jets 2014 draft was a disaster you don't know what you're talking about. Again you just want immediate results when sometimes things take time to develop. As for Patterson. When you can't get a top flight player at a position you try to sign a decent veteran who has proven he can play and start in the NFL. Patterson has NFL credentials and starter pedigree.
You'd have better luck explaining that to my 1 year old nephew than Billboard Boy. It's like talking to a brick wall. He will never get it.
Tanenbaum was 4-12 in his 2nd year as GM, just like Idzik, and that's after coming into a much better situation than Idzik. Why wasn't he canned then, before getting a chance to go to the conference finals? Oh, that's right, because it's insane to can a GM 2 years in. And if you say our 8-8 last year was unlikely, then by the same reasoning, this year's 4-12 should be 6-10 because most games were really close. So we were really a 6-10 team both years, with a tougher schedule and more key injuries this year. Also, the average GM in the NFL gets 5 years or so on the job. And guess what, the more successful teams tend to have longer tenured GMs. Only teams like the Browns, Jags, etc keep churning through people.
Pay no attention to that garbage. They say the same thing about the Dolphins. It's possible that it's true about both teams, but the reasons given for the same result are so different that I seriously doubt it. It's all about the $$$.
I have no idea if he will be a good or bad GM, but I do know he's getting the job because he's Casserly's buddy, not because he was the most qualified.
Media from Hell, biggest city in the world, PISSED off fans etc etc are all things that would intimidate just about any coach or gm from coming here....but I want the dude that's looking forward to challenging and overcoming those things to try and drag this franchise out of the shitter.
I didn't agree with cutting him in his rookie year. He should've started the year on the practice squad or inactive.
They had 12 picks and you don't keep all of them. You try to move some onto your practice squad. It just so happens that 3 guys cut from the 2014 draft were picked up by other teams and are on active rosters. Which means other organizations thought they were decent players.
How many times do I have to tell to that my name is not "billboard boy".... Billboard Belichick makes way more sense since I am not a Jets fan...
Did you know it sometimes takes years to clear a cap. Do you think the new GM is going to run out and kill the cap just to appease guys like you. I hope we get a fiscal conservative.
I never wanted to just sign players jist because we could but to act like Idzik pulled some crazy magic trick to clear the cap in insane it didn't really take much to clear our cap
