This week we finally get to see if Mangini has what it takes to be a NFL coach. Last week's blowout can bring a team together or splinter it apart. Some players(and fans )have not bought in to Mangini's style of football. Now after a disasterous loss he needss to get this team to play a struggling Miami Dolphin team at the Meadowlands. The Jets can't run the ball or tackle the ball carrier but yet they're still 2-3! Looking down the road Mangini might be able to get a 8-8 record for the Jets no small achievement considering the inferior talent on this team. A loss here and all the good will that he got earlier will disappear quicker then a glass of beer at a Irish wake.:drunk:
Everyone just needs to keep their expectations low and stop drinking the kool-aid with every win and loss.
I don't believe that the Jets are at any sort of crossroads. I see the Jets as a mediocre team that can beat bad teams and can't beat great teams. And I don't see how a win against Miami will change that. A loss would be unfortunate, but it won't be season defining either.
As long as we win when we should win (such as this Sunday), I'll feel OK. Having said that...it is adversity that defines a team and a coach. In the sense that we'll be seeing how the Tangini Jets handle adversity, this is something of a crossroads.
Its almost impoosible for this team not to win 8-10 games if Chad stays healthy no matter how good or bad the coaching is. We have 9 games left against teams we should be either favored against or even. We will probably never ever see a schedule this easy again. An easy schedule can make a bad team good as winning breeeds winning. The 2004 team was an awful team that convinced themselves they were good in large part due to a soft early schedule. We have the same oppurtunity this season. We play 2 good teams the rest of the season NE and Chicago. After NE the headest game left on schedule is eitehr Minnesota or Miami. Which tells one what kind of schedule we have. Give this schedule to any team in the league and they automatically become playoff contenders. Mangini will gte a pass this year because of the schedule and he will have a chance to repair his relationship with the players. He will not need to learn from his mistakes until next year.
A blowout loss would cripple Mangini's credibility with his players. This guy is trying to install "his" system. A big win by Miami and he could lose some of his players. Coles looks like he's looking to jump ship at any minute.
