What is the impact on a potential Abe trade if a CBA is not reached? Do other teams need the extra Cap space to sign Abe. I hate to lose him, but I would feel alot better if we can get some picks for him.

Besides Cincinatti, I don't think any of the suitors can afford him right now. Maybe the Falcons, but I don't know for sure. I am almost positive Denver is over the cap right now.

Whoever trades for Abe wont be paying the 8.33 mill, they will agree to a long term deal so they should only a few million each year

A deal with Cleveland or Detroit is still probably a possibility.

I didn't even think of Cleveland or Detroit. I guess that's possible, but would Abe accept that trade? Didn't the Jets and Abe agree that he can refuse a trade? I know there is no binding contract, but given that they have already lied to him once, I don't think it's a good message to send to players to burn him twice.

You can't trade a player who is not under contract either for players or draft picks. Abraham hasn't signed the franchise contract and didn't last year until the end of training camp and is not under contract. His agent can talk to other teams about contracts but since he has not signed a franchise contract he has absolute veto power over any trade the Jets might want. If another team offers a contract that would blow him away he can accept then its up to the team and the Jets to work out compensation before trade can be done.

Thanks, I was along the right lines, just off on the specifics.
