No - cut him loose and see what he can get on the open market. New GM can match or beat the price he gets -- no one is going to go over $6 million a year for an oft injured small receiver with injury and attitude issues.

I'd say the chances of him returning took a pretty big hit with the firing of Idzik. I would be very surprised if he is in a Jets uniform in week 1 next season.

HEY I was texting my Jets friend and asking where did this kid come from. Hope he
was not sticking shelves before this game.

Cut him. Sign him. Isn't that what you do with every good player on your team. Show him you want him by cutting his ____ . Then tell him you want him even more by taking a pay cut. This is done because NFL teams are so close to bankruptcy.

Agree. I love Harvin as a player, but without a major paycut, he just isn't worth it. He'd have to be far less injury prone to be worth it at his current salary.

There is this thing called the salary cap. It's kind of a big deal.

Very true. They need to have it in baseball. It swould help small market teams from going to the World Series. They can't now.

The next GM would be wise to do two things his first day in office (after a coach is hired):

    -Give Mo whatever he wants.
-Restructure with Harvin to give him guaranteed money over the next three years since he has none, less yearly for a lower cap hit.

Go into the offseason knowing exactly what you have. Go into the draft knowing you have Decker and Harvin at WR. Don't take a stab at what you'll have and what you won't have. And personally, I don't think any GM would turn down having Percy Harvin, the player. Just need to make the numbers work.

I'm sure the pats would take him if he gets cut.

Bump, what is the opinion from people now that we have acquired Marshall?

    Do we still keep Harvin?

I am 50/50 right now...We basically need a slot guy which we have in Kerley or can pick one up...

With Brandon Marshall reportedly traded to the Jets, it appears as if Percy Harvin's days in New York are numbered. According to CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason la Canfora, the Jets are expected to part ways with Harvin.

Keeping him depends on 2 things:
    1) upgrade at QB (vet)
    2) upgrade on OL (Iupati? pleeease)

otherwise no need to tie all those resources at WR

I think the logic of Harvin's position, that being that he should not give up the number in his contract because he thinks he can get close to that in FA, is such that the Jets have to cut him. And if they sign Marshall, then it is clear that is what is going to happen. Giving up the 4 was just too much.

Harvin is not a $10.5 million WR. He's a slasher and a freakish athlete, but I never saw him dominate a game the way Marshall can.

id def let him hit the market because i wouldnt want to give up a 4th rounder but id also not totally dismiss resigning him if the money is right

i dont think harvin is getting the monster contract he expects to get

Yeah that 4th is basically a late 3rd rounder
