I apologize in advance but not sure if this has been discussed before but here I go...I recently read an article which I can't find but it has Jameis Winston, Ben Roethlisberger and Steve Mcnair having similar type of play and intangibles... Obviously IMO Big Ben has the greatest intangibles currently in the NFL... He not the best QB but he does have that "X" factor NFL teams crave for...BTW I cannot tolerate PIT fans! I'm also tired of eeefffinggg losing!

    Your thoughts please.

I mean, I guess I could see Winston raping someone so the Big Ben comparisons are pretty accurate.

Winston is going to be a great player in the NFL. I would LOVE to see him in an NYJ uniform. It's too bad we won that Tennessee game - which blew our chances to land Winston.

Yep, Winston playing in NY would make one hell of a circus just like Jet fan are use to. If the Jets drafted Winston it would be the last straw for me. Winston can't run yet every says he can. He had a great team to support him yet he gets all the credit. He is far from being a bright person and plays a position that requires the most intelligence.

Not sure what you mean when you say he will be a great player? You mean like RG3 who might not have a job, or Leaf who just sucked. They were both #2 picks and both teams paid a lot for them, yet the word great was used a lot and meant nothing. I pray we don't get him and if it takes another win to ensure we don't, I'll be routing for the Jets this week.

This is awesome. NY should want to stay far away from Winston on and off the field!

Glad you'll be "routing" for the Jets this Sunday (whatever that means).

If you can't see that Winston is an amazing QB, who plays with incredible physical toughness, mental toughness and tremendous competitiveness and will-to-win then I don't know what to tell you. He has some flaws in his game (mainly he needs to improve his accuracy as his throws are not always right on the money, and he needs to shorten up his throwing motion slightly) but he has the tools to be a great player.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is quite possibly the most intelligent QB to ever play, yet he throws a million INT's, so intelligence is not required to play the position. You need to understand offenses and defenses. If he understands that (which based on his play it would seem to be that he does) then he will be fine.

I never said anything about him running. In fact, it's one of the reason's why I like him more than Mariota. I do not like running QB's.

Mariota has a great team to support him and he will likely be the No 1 overall draft pick.
Peyton Manning had a great team at Tennessee and he was the No 1 overall draft pick.
Actually, talking about how great of a team that surrounds him is a weak and pathetic argument. That's an argument one makes when they don't have a clue. Watching Winston is all I need to know that he can play. He carries that team. They are not undefeated TWO years in a row without Winston.

the issue with Jamis is the off the field stuff. He is very immature with that said the NY media will eat him alive. No thanks I would rather wait a yr then draft someone who is anointed to be the franchise for someone who is mature enough to handle the situation

Given all his off field problems, I wouldn't necessarily say he won't be there when we pick.......

Not a NY Jets topic; possibly NFL, definitely BS.

well if he is available the jets will be in a pickle and I have no idea what the right thing would be. This guy is a lightning rod for trouble until now and that kind of behavior will not just go away.

The best predictor of future behavior is......past behavior. And give him a multimillion dollar contract on top of that.

    Good luck

Here's the thing, when your TD-INT ratio is that bad in college, that is a major res flag heading into the pros where everything is much harder for a QB.

To say he will be a great player in the NFL, all while having the confidence you do in that opinion, leads me to believe you are stuck on the hype of Winston instead of the play of Winston.

TD-INT ratio isn't the end of all be. Geno Smith had a great TD-INT ratio in college, but that obviously meant nothing in the pro game.

Enough of the NY media, they eat everyone alive. It's their job and it comes with the territory of playing in New York.

If anyone can handle them it's Winston, he's very charismatic and is a good talker. He also has the ability to just brush critics and mistakes off. I think he would be a very good QB for the Jets.

It isn't, but when evaluating how/why Winston is throwing these picks it most definitely is a concern. 90% of his picks have come due to poor lower half mechanics, and terrible reads, such as not identifying the mike, sam will, etc. Bucky Brooks' evaluation of Winston is spot on. He's an "arm thrower", instead of incoporating his lower body in his mechanics , he entirely relys on his powerful arm. I'm all for Winston/Mariota, if they sit for a full year, because they're both a work in progress.
