I just posted that the Eagles were averaging more yards per game under Foles than Sanchez. The difference is that other players besides Foles turned the ball over with him starting than with Sanchez starting. The Eagles' offense has been good in spite of atrocious QB play all season, a testament to their talent and coaching, not to the QB play.
so which is more important? yards or points? FIVE more PPG w/ Sanchez, that's almost a TD more per game.
He didn't elevate their offense. It was already elite going back to last year. They have enough talent and coaching that you can plug any QB in. He's the scapegoat because he turned the ball over more than anyone in the league after coming in for Foles and committed crucial turnovers in these three games. What's there to appreciate? If he was still here, the Jets would still be atrocious. The Jets got to the doorstep of the Super Bowl twice in spite of him. They missed the playoffs the following two years THANKS to him. You're the clueless one.
They scored over 40 against Tennessee and Carolina, scoring a defensive/special team TD in each. That juices up the number. Every other game they scored over 29 just once. 20 against GB, 33 against Dallas, 14 against Seattle, 27 against Dallas, 24 against Washington.
I only used points scored by the offense, I remove pts scored by D/STs. the only games the O wasn't good were at GB and vs. Seattle. the 2 best teams in the NFC and maybe the NFL.
The Jets are sixth in the NFL in yards allowed per game, but are 24th in PPG allowed (which includes all special teams and defensive teams touchdowns). Are the Jets a good defensive team? Yes. Yards is a more telling stat. The Cardinals give up a ton of yards and that bit them in the ass against a good Seattle team.
5 more PPG is elevating the offense whether you want to acknowledge it or not. we'd be MUCH better if he was still here and he helped get us closer to a SB than 95% of the board has ever seen before. No, yards are clearly more important. who cares about points.
yards is more telling? the 6th ranking tells me we have a top D, in reality we have a bottom D. you just proved the point while not realizing it. Our D stunk this year, brutal.
No, it means they're elite. The PPG is juiced because their offense is atrocious and turns the ball over so much they set up easy scores for the other team.
It actually isn't. Again, once again, their offense has enough talent it doesn't matter who the QB is. Are you trying to tell me they played well against Dallas and Washington? Turnover differential and yards are important, more telling than just straight PPG. If he was still here, at best the Jets would be 5-10 or 6-9, not close to a playoff team.
With Sanchez it used to be meaningless right? It used to be all about wins right? Now the wins don't matter so much that he doesn't have a top 5 D and we're talking PPG
So, then wouldn't that mean that the yards would be decreased because the offense is so terrible? Maybe a more telling stat would be drive success rate. This would be a fun thing to research. You would need to determine what would make a drive successful then see if the team achieved success or not. You would need to factor in Drive start LOS, Time Remaining, score before determining what a successful drive result is. Then maybe increase points for overachieving. An example would be you get the ball at your own 5 yard line. A successful drive would be giving the ball back to the opponent inside their 30. Then let's say you end up driving 95 yards for a TD. In that case you would have over-achieved.
Team stats and points are don't mean as much as the key stat of turnovers. Sanchez has the wonderful task of managing a up tempo offense and can never elevate his team consistently. Real good qbs can do that after turnovers. Sanchez creates turnovers in important junctures of the game/ critical time when th pressure is on. Or he will find ways to be mediocre with his passing. Sanchez is a glorified Rex Grossman who is mediocre at best and junc is a proponent of mediocrity.
except the majority of his TOs were in garbage time and he was credited w/ a fumble that was McCoy's fumble and the bad call on the INT the other day. if the D plays decently they win that division. I want to win, you see what has happened since you guys ran off Schottenheimer, Tannenbaum and Sanchez, right? we went from elite team to bottom of the league. I hope you are enjoying it.
What is garbage time? Don't tell me that the second pick he threw against Dallas was in garbage time. It's a stupid excuse for atrocious play. Ok, but he still turned the ball over in crucial moments against Seattle, Dallas, and Washington. Hence why they're out. Those three are the reason why the Jets fell short of the Super Bowl and missed the playoffs the next two seasons, but whatever.
it certainly was in garbage time, 2 mins left w/ no TOs philly side of the field down by 2 scores. that game was over. it ended when the TE fumbled the ball but like Saturday the D was the main culprit allowing 38 pts. the reason the Jets fell short was b/c of the Defense in both title games. to be fair the D was the main reason we made the title games but the D was awful at Indy and legendary choker Peyton Manning and allowed Pitt to run all over us in the '10 title game. we missed the playoffs for many reasons, one of which was Mark's play down the stretch but the D was just as guilty in 2011. In 2012 the O was the major culprit but there wasn't ant talent around him.
