I got this from the article that the nypost.com had on its front page:

Jags DE Paul Spicer, whose sack ended Pennington's season a year ago, told the quarterback to "stay healthy" at midfield before the coin toss. ...

I mean chad played his worst game as a pro against the same team that knocked him out last season in a hostile environment and the team did look very timid.
The defense has no excuses and it probably wouldnt have mattered if the offense magaged to score but i cant help but wonder if this game was over before the players even stepped into the the first offensive huddle. chad showed no emotion, fire, leadership today, almost as if an imposter was on the field. Im sure you guys know what im talkin about, he had the deer in the headlights look on the sideline and i cant remember the last time weve seen that out of him. If that is the case i can accept what happened out there because how can you blame a guy for having a bad game against a team that pretty much derailed his career last season

You have to be glad that Pennington survived the game. We have had three QBs injured in our last two games against the Jags. I was beginning to think we were cursed against them.

I thought that Chad did as well as he could and think you're being a bit hard there. Other player who stood out on the O were the Oline who look to be really jelling and Washington. The WRs were so well marshalled that they were never in the game. With hardly any running game at all its easy to key into the playmakers.
To lay this at Chads door is unfair. Unfortunatley next weeks game against the Phins isn't so cut and dry as people thought. Don't expect a win against them or Detroit. The Browns will also put up a fight. I'm taking nothing for granted. This isn't a playoff team , never has been but might become one. Most posters with a brain in their head know that this could take 2-3 to get right. I still think that Mangini is ahead of schedule but its going to be a rocky road.

Ding Ding- everytime you see chad look like he had an all night yayo party with scarface, we get our asses handed to us. His eyes showed nothing but fear. I smelled it through the tv. This is the problem I have with pennington, when he loses his heart before the first kickoff. He came out the tunnel with no enthusiasm. Flat. Throughout his career, when you watch him come out the tunnel like that, straight bitch is flowing through his veins. His team can sense it. If he's not confident how can the offence be confident in the huddle.

It's not that our Offense looked flat in the 1st quarter again; it is that our D can't stop the other team's running game for their life. It magnifies the 1st quarter unproductivity when at the end of the 1st quarter you are always down 0-10, 0-21, 3-13, or something like that.

I don't think people would complain about it as much if our Defence wasn;t struggling so badly this year. I think we are last in the league at stopping the run again.

The pass protection was not the problem. Pennington was clearly rattled from the moment the game started. He played like a rookie yesterday and it killed the team. You keep saying we have no talent on O but Pennington has had plenty of time to pass and it's basically his call. He squeezed the field on himself yesterday. Once we got behind we were steam rolled but Pennington's slow start on the road was a big part of us getting steam rolled.

They guy has been very good but he has good WR and a good pass blocking line in front of him.

Chad is a system quarterback through and through. He's a very good system quarterback but that all he's really good at.

When the systems break down he gets in trouble because he doesn't really have the physical skills to pull the fat out of the fire. He has a few tricks, like the scramble up the gut which might save a first down or the skitter to the sidelines which might save a sack, but basically he can't pull a rabbit out of the hat very often when things break down.

When you see Chad with that deer in the headlight look, which we've all seen from time to time, it means that things are breaking down around him and he knows he's not the answer to the problem. The thing to remember is that when that happens it's not because Chad is playing poorly, it's because the system has broken down at it's component level and Chad is unable to fix it on the fly.

John Elway was a much more physically talented QB than Chad will ever be and he still had the same problems when Denver's offense broke down in the early to mid 90's. That's why he took so much criticism for the Bronco's inability to win the big game and it's why everybody credited him for getting the Bronco's over the top in 97 and 98. They were all wrong though. Elway didn't get the Bronco's over the top, a better system and better components (Terrell Davis) did.
