What kind of franchise keeps a guy around who's partially responsible for the building of awful rosters under 3 different regimes over 14 years? That's the real question that needs to be asked. This guy is lucky to have a job in the NFL and should've been relieved of his duties years ago.
Yeah Okay..so now it's the fans making the picks? Vilma was a great pick and he had many other great and very good picks. His drafts weren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be. I wasn't talking about his trades and free agents acquisitions. I was speaking to his drafts only.
Friend's best friend worked in the NY Jets scouting department. I am sure many of you know of him. He tells me that it was Tanny who wanted Hill, not Rex or scouting.
This might be the Dumbest Post Of The Year Winner. Did you watch either AFC CG ? The QB was about #8 on our list of reasons why we didn't win. Sanchez played well vs. Indy, and OK vs. Pitt. The pass defense SUCKED vs. Indy, and the run defense SUCKED vs. Pitt. We missed more tackles in the 1st half of the Pitt game than we had in the previous 3 games combined.
This is entirely accurate. It was our vaunted defense that put us in the hole in the AFCG against Pittsburgh, not Sanchez.
I concur. I believe that the biggest problem with Wilson was with his height. Although that's drawback, shorter qbs can be made to be productive.
I think that coaching is a big part of it. But if you draft a qb who can already play, it's not as significant. I think the lack of coaching had more of an impact on Sanchez than Geno because the qb coach was upgraded. Although it's early on, Sanchez is doing very well in Chip Kelly's system. He still throws ints often. But his comp%, TD%, YPC% have increased.
A couple of points. Even though he missed on Ed Reed, We were playing cover 2 back then and there was a lot more emphasis on the pass rush. Dwayne Robertson was still a better pick than the two players that the Bears drafted.

Sanchez had a pick 6, or was it a fumble 6, in the Pitt game, and he failed first and goal on 4 tries inside the Pitt 5. He mad a significant contribution to losing, I think
It was 3rd and 15 backed up against our EZ, Schottenheimer dialed up a long pass play it wasn't a good play-call at all and it led to those 6 points. Wasn't an interception but a fumble for a TD. Mark wasn't the reason why we lost that game.
I see your point and agree with some of it but truth is Chip Kelly might be the best offensive mind in the game right now. A good offensive coach will no doubt provide the gameplan necessary for a QB to succeed. But its up to the QB to make those throws. Sanchez had his moments last game out but I honestly think a better QB could've had a much better night. I heard a stat the other day that Sanchez was only hit once the entire game. Maybe some of that was on him but between that and the way the Panthers secondary played that night his numbers just dont seem that great to me. I wont deny that a better offensive mind around Sanchez in his time with us could've maybe developed him into a better QB. But Im not as sure on that as most other fans seem to be. We have arguable the best defensive mind in the game as our coach but that hasnt helped guys like Kyle Wilson.

The worst part is, Doug Brien didn't choke. Heinz Field, at the time, was the worst field in the league to make field goals in because of the condition of the field ... AND EVERYBODY KNEW IT. Since the stadium has been built, there has been one kick made there over 50 yards. One. Overall, kickers regularly miss about 10-15% more kicks then they do on average at every other NFL stadium. When it was first built, the Steelers had a kicker who kicked 58% at Heinz Field and over 80% on the road. The guy who choked was our dumb-as-rocks head coach who played for a 47 yard field goal (rather than try and score a touchdown) and then turned right around and played for a 43 yard field goal (rather than try and score a touchdown). And to make it even worse, the only reason they were playing the Steelers that week in the playoffs was because the week before, he watched Schottenheimer make the exact same mistake against the Jets (play for a 40 yard field goal in overtime, rather than try and get closer, and miss) and lose. Some coaches are simply too stupid and risk adverse to win championships and Marty Schottenheimer (and his moron son) and Herm Edwards are two of them. Dungy would be another, but Peyton Manning won a title despite Dungy's coaching. They all came from the same group of coaches and they all blow.
