I always root for the Jets to win. The draft is simply too much of a crapshoot. We all know the names: Not Top Ten Draft Picks: Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Dan Marino Top Ten Draft Picks: Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Joey Harrington, Jamarcus Russell etc.
I know plenty about Winston - he's twenty years old and all he has to do is sit in his room at night and in less than four months he will be richer than 99.9999999% of people in the history of the planet ... ... yet he's been accused of rape (where the NY Times claimed the Tallahassee police purposely covered it up, an investigation led by a police officer who on the side did private security work for the Seminole Booster club), he was nearly shot by campus police for shooting squirrels with a BB gun, he shoplifted from both a Burger King and a grocery store, he was suspended by the team for behaving like an imbecile in the middle of the school's student center, he was accused of selling autographs (something every college athlete knows is the quickest way to get suspended), and he's now a suspect in a point shaving investigation involving his high school teammate and friend. Where there's smoke, there is fire. Winston is trouble and, more likely than not, will see the inside of a prison in his lifetime. Now, by all means, counter this with judicious use of profanity and ad hominem attacks. That will certainly win the argument for you. One in three black males in America between age 20 and 29 are either imprisoned, jailed, on parole or probation ... but somehow you think my statement that there's a better than 50% chance Winston (see his record to-date, above) will be behind bars in his lifetime is outrageous and/or racist? Okay, good luck with that one. I hope the Dolphins draft him.
I like it when the jets win, because I'm a jets fan. Its so nice to see the team win after so many losses. it would also be nice to see the team play well enough to win some more games, because I like seeing them win, because I'm a jets fan. If somebody roots again the jets, that means they aren't a jets fan, their some kind of masochistic whiner who enjoys rooting for their own NFl team to fail so that a rookie QB or somebody has to save the day with a crappy team. meanwhile, us jets fans will enjoy seeing amaro develop, or Harvin pan out, or the front 7 dominate, because them doing well really DOES help our future seeing as how a lot of them will be HERE next year along with whoever we wind up drafting. today is a good day to a jets fan, because they won, and a miserable day to be a miserable excuse for a jets fan, because they won.
i mean isn't it better that the players that are already here are good? there are several players on roster who will be here next year, isn't it better to have a team capable of winning with its current pieces than a team being so inept that they can't pull a win out EVER? thats the dumbest part about those disappointed with wins, they think their rooting for their future, when in reality their rooting against it.
The Jets will get a top ten pick and if Rex is still around probably on defense. They didn't show anything special today to make me think they can play better than .500 the rest of the season and that's a stretch. They had 4 turnovers to zero and still only scored 20 points. They take critical penalties which kill drives. In other words they need a great effort plus some luck to get a W. And they're usually not too lucky a team.

I think the Jets are a lot closer to 2-14 than 8-8 0r 7-9 Plus, the Jets are never going to be in a position to directly draft Mariotta or Winston, or anyone else who vaults into the top of consideration for the draft , because there is no way they are going to have one of the two worst records in the league. Therefore, to get those guys, they're going to have to trade up. And what's to stop Mariotta from pulling an Eli or Elway, and maneuver himself to the Eagles.
