I used to get upset when I would hear Jets fans talk about "Should I even stay a fan?" I would say come on! Be loyal! Jets fans have been though. Sometimes enough is enough. Not saying to ever actually leave the fanbase, but I would not disagree if a fan stopped watching until some things are changed. It is awful. People need to be held accountable.
I agree, but I don't think we have to draft the QB. I think there are/were several QB's available in the last 2 years that would have done very well leading this team. Palmer, Moore, A. Smith, Flynn even Vick if he had the whole season or dare I say it...Sanchez with good talent around him. I don't want Rex fired because he is a bad HC, we can get buy with his mistakes. I don't want him fired because his defense too often fails, we could overcome that (with help on O). I want him fired because he can not evaluate or coach up talent on the offensive side of the ball. In his six years, we have not had a standout on the offense. No QB, no WR, no RB, no TE, no Linemen. His accomplishments on defense are not much better. We're still not set at Safety, CB or LB. We all assume Idzik is responsible for the defensive deficiencies, but did Rex tell him he could win with these guys?
I like the word "disgusting". This is the most disgusting team I have ever had to root for. Bunch of entitled losers all thinking about their next job. Morningwhig is the worst, disgusting.
Let's just clean house and start over. Can we for once just have a new GM, Coach, and coordinators? Why are the Jets the only team that fires everyone but still keeps guys from the prior regime around (e.g., Schotty, Rex, Bradway). Time to clean house.
I don't disagree, but again I do not see Woody managing the situation in a productive way. Look at the last time he hired a GM. He fucked that up. No reason to expect better in the future.
So why was Vick 10 of 12 late in the 4th quarter? Does our idiotic OC not think we need to pass to have any chance at a win when we are down 2 TDs or more?
I hate to suggest it because the Giant fans once did it but if people got together and decided to boycott a game (Pittsburgh would be a good one) and burned their tickets in the parking lot making sure the media had ample warning to cover it something good might come out of it.
First round pick rookie Qb's get a lot of attention around the NFL, and in some cases deservedly so. Wilson and Luck already seem not only like solid talents, but growing stars for the league. But for some the hype later seems overblown, like for Kaepernick, or is undercut by some other adverse factor, like Griffin getting injured so badly. Of course injuries can happen to any player, but I think we can all name a list of even Qb first round draft picks who at a minimum underplayed their draft status, while others flat out sucked. Part of the problem probably lies with the differences between the pro and college games especially at the Qb position. A subtle variant to that, focusing more on offensive schemes and philosophies, is how greater overall speed in the NFL can undermine some whose flaws in such regard were not noticed in college. This uneven record of production from Qb's picked in the first round is hardly unknown at other positions (see Wilson, but this time Kyle). Of course. But it does seem like it happens more often with Qb's. Add in the Jets' apparent inability to develop Qb's, and the time to develop one even under better circumstances, and i think the Jets could be well served by going FA or trade for a vet Qb this coming off season. That can be supplemented by a first round pick, of course. But assuming Vick is not coming back, the Jets once again could use BOTH a vet Qb and one chosen with a high draft pick. But this time hopefully a younger and more durable player than Vick. Someone like who Buffalo got to steady their season, Kyle Orton.
"no psls: We don't need you. Get off the bandwagon. you front-runner." You have to be out of your mind or just don't know enough football. Mezz is an ex NFL defensive back and probably knows more about football then 95 % of the posters here. I have no idea why he became a Jet fan, but he'll never give up. He was just venting, as many of us do regularly. You can understand why our last QB's didn't work out when you backcheck on the woeful QB coaches provided. You seldom see ours showing the play board to the QB. Even the D assistant should help by pointing out the defenses used against the play called. When anyone says top to bottom, don't leave out the scouting crew.
boys and girls, I at least feel better knowing oour GM has "bolstered our depth" (or whatever it was he said) with the signings of T.J. Graham and Chris Owusu. Idzik actually mentioned this during that insane presser. Which ranks right up there with Tannenbaum comparing Caleb Schlauder-whatever to Victor Cruz.
Re-watching the game right now. The defense was SOOOO bad yesterday. Amazingly, the team came out flat riding a 7 game losing streak.. But . . . Rex still deserves a contract extension
at keast this thread gave me a couple chuckles, go jets fans! the team continues to fuel our comedic talents
LOL...Thanks! yeah, all you can do is laugh at all of this... Thanks Coach! Yeah...I'll never leave the Jets...it is just so damn frustrating and I really really really do not see a light at the end of the tunnel. The ONLY solution I see is Woody hires a Ron Wolfe or Bill Polian clone and then, literally, disappears. Steps back, tells the new guy the team is his and then is never heard from again except for Sunday's for his weekly cameo in the owner's box. ONLY then do I see progress....unfortunately, I do not have faith in Woody's ability to hire a solid football guy to run the whole thing.
I'm just not sold on Mariota. I've watched him play a lot and he looks like Kaep 0.5 I'm pretty sure hell be drafted by the Jets and also pretty sure he'll be forced to start too early and hell end up a huge bust as a result.
I'm sorry, but your allegiance must be sacrificed in order for the rest of us to enjoy ourselves. Thank you for your sacrifice
