The problem has always been Bluto Ryan...................you cant be a head coach in the NFL only coaching one side
I can accept that. I don't have any issues with anyone who disliked Favre but he gave us such an enjoyable season until he got injured. Mind you, we took a family vacation down to the Outer Banks that summer--a 10 hour drive. I had just gotten satellite radio for the first time and NFL radio was doing their Two A Days. It just so happened that on that day (i) one of the Two A Days was the Jets and (ii) it was the day we traded for Favre. So I literally listened (and made my kids listen) to 10 straight hours of a Jets-fest and a Favre-fest. I was pumped. Even though I was a huge Pennington fan, I knew it was time to go. I knew he was a 1 year rental but when we were sitting there at 8-3 and folks were talking SB, that was a really really fun season. _
And Peyton Manning is not a Hall of Famer even though he has the stats because you didn't watch the games. ;p
This isn't the problem. The problem is that if you keep your job even as your performance declines then the team inevitably declines around you. Rex won't start a young player over a vet unless the young player is already a budding star. It's the other way around in the NFL most of the time: you don't find the budding stars unless they get a chance to get on the field and there's always a vet that looks like he's got one more good game in him standing in those guys way.
Sanchez is laughing hysterically at all of this. He leaves this shit hole of a team but gets injured. Recovers and signs with a great head coach with an awesome offense. He pays his dues as backup until Foles gets hurt. He comes in, does extremely well, and leads them to a win. He is now the starting QB of the Eagles. Like Bart Scott would say, "Poetic Justice!!"
Jet fans should hope to hell Sanchez does great in Philly..then we might have a shot of trading for Foles in the offseason.
Mark's fans are coming out of the woodwork. You know the same people who care more about Mark than winning games. And wanted to give him a lifetime job as Qb of the Jets no matter what his performance was. After under one game on the field they can't wait to say "I told you so." Well, not so fast. It's no kind of a sample size. And along with the 2 Tds were 2 picks. Which his fans are already blaming on other players. I didn't see the game but give Sanchez credit he came in cold off of the bench hadn't really played in over a yaar and led the team to a W. Now we hear Foles will be out 4-6 so Mark has a chance to prove himself a viable NFL Qb and a starter. And he's on a good team with playmakers (not sure about the OL but I assume they're ok) and great coaching. No more of the built in escuses his fans made every time he fucked up here. I was personally overjoyed when he left the Jets. Now if he plays well with the Eagles some of you might have a point which is: Mark is a good Qb and it was the Jets fault he didn't play well. Plus with Chip there will be accountability. He'll pull Mark in a minute if there are mindless turnovers. Or he can't handle a pass rush. I heard Chip say it himself: he's out for winning and this isn't a developmental league. Which with Mark was the way he was handled by the Jets. He was guaranteed a job and no accountability.
The bold is one of my absolute pet peeves. I equate it to a genius basketball fan that profoundly says that all his/her team needs is a dominant 7 footer who can post up and defend as though they sell those guys at Walmart. Of course EVERY FUCKING FAN would prefer to have Manning, Brady, Rodgers…etc. as their QB. Short of that, I just want a guy able to make enough plays to help the team win (i.e., orchestrate a game winning drive, convert a key 3rd down, able to get the offense out of bad play based on the defensive look pre-snap…etc.). I could care less if his not completing 60% of his passes or turning the ball over. While that "bad" QB is winning games for my team, I continue to search for that holy grail franchise QB with the great QBR, RAT, CMP%…etc. BTW Foles leading his team to a 6-2 record IMO is not a bad season in my book; it's only bad in fantasy football.
This is funny and ironic at the same time, coming from the likes of you. Given that this is a Mark Sanchez thread. _
There are 43 pages about Mark (mostly how we were stupid to cut him) after he played well in one exhibition game. Mark did a good job yesterday. If I was an opponent I'd look at some of the film from the end of 2011. And blitz the hell out of him. But if he plays well more power to him. Don't want him back.
No one is suggesting we're bringing him back, but if those teams are going to look at film of Sanchez in 2011, they also need to make sure his shoulder is injured to get the full effect. Sanchez fans aren't coming out of the woodwork. The tread has been here for months. The dude played a good game and shitty ass fans feel compelled to shit on the guy, like they were waiting for this day. Problem is, they picked the wrong day because (i) he played well and (ii) his team won. Not sure why shitty ass fans don't wait until next week or the week after when he inevitably fucks up to give the world that big hearty "I TOLD YOU SO". This week ain't it. _
I don't remember any viable excuses for his terrible play at the end of 2011. And this is a post about Mark pro or con. BOL to him I'm not rooting for or against him. But he hasn't proven shit to me yet.
Nobody was making the excuses back then but it appeared that at some point in 2011 he injured his shoulder. As it turns out, he actually hurt it during the 2010 playoff run and he was playing with the damaged wing all through 2011 and 2012. He only admitted it when he got his shoulder repaired this offseason. I wasn't aware Sanchez needs to prove something to you. _
This is the anticipation I was telling you about. Mark has always been good at throwing to a spot. What he struggled with was understanding when the defense has taken that spot away. His anticipation and footwork is what makes him ideal for a WCO, which would curb his accuracy and decision making issues.
Let's see how Mark does on Prime-time against the Panthers before we anoint him the next Jim Plunkett. Mark did a good job against the Texans. Wayne Hunter was a big factor.
it was actually during the 2010 season but he played through it and he is evaluated on his play and he stunk to end 2011 as did the entire team.
