http://www.csnne.com/blog/patriots-talk/revis-sent-home-tardiness-tuesday Probably nothing, but interesting enough.
"That's between me and coach [Bill Belichick]. Ask him about it." lol - if it's between you and coach then why should they ask coach?
There was never a doubt that would be a one year deal for him but he didn't even last a year before his act grew old.
Just can't see Rex sending him home. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is a proper way to discipline players. It shows nobody is above the team. Also, fuck Revis.
That's a real punishment- missing practice ? If Ryan did this he would be called soft. If Bellichick were serious about disciplining Revis, he holds him out of all or part of Sundays game.
Yeah, hurt the team because a guy was late for practice. That's fucking genius. The Patriots have had the rule in place since BB took over. Show up late for practice and you don't practice. Period. It's not about showing the player up or being a tough disciplinarian, it's about consistency, and consitency for everyone. Doesn't matter who. Moss, Thomas, Spikes... Revis called up to say he overslept and would be late. He was told to stay home. To his credit he went to the stadium later in the day to have a meeting with BB in which he apologized and said it won't happen again.
Like CJ said, this kind of got overblown... they've done this before, most famously in 2009 when Adalius Thomas, Randy Moss, and a couple other guys showed up at Gillette late on the morning of a snow storm. You can't make exceptions for your star players or you lose your integrity as a coach and a leader. What happened with Revis would have happened if he was the 10th player on the practice squad or whether he was Tom Brady. Not so sure this is a sign of dysfunction or an omen of things to come. From what we see here in the media (and I realize that's really limited), Revis has been pretty happy in NE. I don't think resigning him is completely out of the question.
To be fair Billy Boy did sit Welker for two series in a 'playoff' game because of him getting cute with Rex's fetish. Honestly I'm surprised this wasn't a holdout, like Revis's phony headache during camp one year
I don't think its big deal to anyone but the media. I doubt there is anyone on the Pats roster that works harder than Revis. Mike Pettine called Revis the best practice player he has ever seen. With the Jets Revis was a guy who not only made himself better every practice but made everyone else around him better. I am not a fan of Belichick but I do like that he did not treat Revis any differently and told him to stay home. It's a non-story but just imagine if this happened with the Jets how the media would be all over Rex portraying the Jets as an undisciplined circus.
