This may be a big part of it. Geno showed enough vs the Broncos and Patriots that they have to be wondering if he could still be the guy. This gets him another weapon, and can help find the answer to that question. If not, we have weapons in place for whoever the next QB is. It also allows us to focus on other positions early in FA. Probably Byron Maxwell.

Hmm, sounds good. The feeling of 3 and outs is still hard to remove though.

Harvin, when healthy and engaged, can take the top off the D and make big plays. He's playing for a contract right now, so it'll be interesting to see if he's motivated to perform. It will certainly open up space for Decker and Amaro too. Come on Percy.

    Morningdig
    D'bricka
    Willie
    Nick Mangold
    Abooshia
Whoever the other tackle is (they have been decent)

If they let the kid run more, like last night, he could be a franchise qb. Old man Marty sucks though. Dbrick, willie and aboosh are all suspect.

What a great story if they turn the ship

That is definitely the best list of passing targets Geno has had, but I'd still like to see Nelson replaced with an AJ Greene/Dez Bryant/Brandon Marshall type WR (big, tall, and fast).

Still need to draft Cooper or White.

However, a lineup of Decker and Amaro on the outsides with Harvin and Kerley in the slots with Ivory in the backfield is pretty intriguing.

I do wonder if Harvin will just be a Salas replacement or if it's a sign that they may not re-sign Kerley next year.

Geno is fine between the 20's when he has time, but is a red zone disaster.

If he can't improve his red zone he has to go. Team has enough weapons for a more effective redzone.

I said the same thing in another thread and it's another element of this trade that makes it so intriguing. Now we get to see Geno with a pretty solid arsenal of weapons:

Adding Harvin is huge it takes the pressure off of Decker and opens up passing opportunities for Kerley, Cumberland, Amaro and Nelson.

Awesome addition for Geno and MM. Still need another outside guy in the draft/FA it will be interesting to see how we play Kerley/Harvin.

Amaro should be in every snap but MM is an idiot. The OL is still shit but adding Harvin will create open targets faster and keep defenses from stacking the box and blitzing with impunity. At least the pieces are finally now all there for an NFL caliber offense minus 2 guards or 1 guard and 1 tackle. If Geno can start to progress with that then great, if not at least the next kid brought in will have a fighting chance instead of starting off the career with his back to the wall.

Idzik has been nothing but putrid so far for the most part but this is a step in the right direction.

Harvin can play outside, not sure why people think he can't.

I have a feeling Harvin is going to be a big distraction for Geno because he's always going to be looking to throw to him. Geno already takes forever to make up his mind, and now he's going to have to make sure Harvin is running the right route on every play. That will take more time, plus the pressure of trying to get him the ball will ultimately get Geno blasted. Whatever, I still hope we lose all the rest of the games and clean house.

A lot of this will come down to how MM uses Harvin but Geno has been reading the ball better.

I don't think so, because he's already got a good rapport with Decker. Decker's veteran presence in the locker room can only be a good influence on the WR group.

How hard do you think Geno is to hear this news btw?

Harvin is going to be on his best behavior.

Seattle pretty much exposed him trading him the way they did. He knows now he's playing for a contract either to stay here or to sign with another team in the offseason.

He hurts his value a lot if he becomes a distraction.

Where did I say anything about the locker room? I'm talking about on the field distraction.
