WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT TAKING 290 LB DE AND TURNING THEM INTO OLB WITH GHOLSTON JESUS COPLES SUCKS. PUT HIM AS A RESERVE 3-4 DE
You know what the funny thing is? According to Football Outsiders Coples in fact played more snaps than Babin in the game you're referring to, and Babin is actually the one who played 36 snaps.

Good point....Jets seem to have a habit of 'finding' players like these , ala Dwayne Robertson, and it always seems to go no where. I was about to create a thread using the 'B' word for Coples. His disappearing act on many plays is becoming ominous.
I was told a couple weeks ago by someone on this board that Coples was playing " great" this season. Great, mind you. With Rex's history of stupidity, it really makes you think Pryor is gonna be a shitbag too
I disagree with the sentiment that "Coples Sucks" To even mention him in the same breath as Gholston is ridiculous. What I will say is given the Jets scheme and personnel , that they did him a disservice by drafting him. He is a 4-3 DE that never quite fit the Jets D.
Really getting down on him. At first, thinking that he had to take time to recover from his foot injury, he would show improvement week to week. But when I hear his name rarely called on the field, that's a tell tale sign. Comparing him to his partner, Dimario Davis at this juncture, night and day. Davis is all over the field making plays, and when he's not he's at least near the play. Coples on the other hand, he seems to dog it or he's just plain worn out at the end. For a 1st round pick, big letdown. A first round pick should not have a limited role. It's not good when Rex has now decided to put him in on certain schemes....not good.
If Idzik has any real sense for talent he will trade Coples, will he still has some value left, this dude was a bad pick
It's tough for me to get down on him, I think part of the reduced snaps the past 2 weeks is because of the need to get fast pressure on teams who pass a ton. I'll be ready to eat my words but I expect his snap count to go up a lot against the rest of the teams we play who all run more, and run better than Denver and New England. Coples is a much more versatile player than Babin or Barnes, are basically pure speed rushers. We'll see.
He's a DE not a LB. Rex will never admit the move to LB was a bad idea, so he keeps trying to make it work and it hasn't (and won't)
Less than a week to go before the 10/28 trade deadline. It would surprise me if Coples is not on the "behind the scenes" trading block. After 7 games ----- 5 total tackles (3 solo & 2 assisted), 1 sack & 1 forced fumble. 16th overall 2012 draft pick (***** not Idzik's *****). Under contract until after the 2015 season only. Likely not going to resign him. Possible suitor ==== any NFC team on the cusp (like Dallas) trying to make that final push. Or someone like Tampa Bay with their 4-3 D and losing record that makes a return traded draft pick that much better.
