$200,000 salary lost, AND longest suspension in NFL history. I think it's pretty reasonable in NFL terms. If the victim wants to go to court for a civil case, that's a different story.
not the longest suspension in NFL history (Rickey Williams got suspended a year for drugs) It's the longest suspension for an On-Field incident ever in the NFL
I'm surprised 5 games was the most. At first I thought it wouldn't be enough, but if it is a record then maybe it is.
Still dont think its enough, he easily could have taken his eye out and maybe even done worse. The police should look into this incident like they did with Bertuzzi in hockey.
How do you like Peter King, when asked last night, stated that he would get a $25k fine and no games. The other guys on the panel looked at him as if he was shooting up before he got there. Hey, it was ugly...and im sure he didnt say "let me give this guy 30 stitches" before he did it...but he did...and the fine/suspension is a good one..and could have been longer.
lol no, he's just inactive for 5 games. he doesnt get payed for those 5 weeks either. then everything returns to normal and he comes back and plays. I agree with what Rambo said, 5 doesnt seem like enough. But if its a record for on-field incidents than they did give him at least some decent punishment.
when's tennessee's bye week? I take it that isn't included in the 5 weeks - i.e. if they're off week 6 then he misses weeks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 not 5-9?
No way do I feel that 5 games is enough. It may seem knee jerk and harsh but I think a year minimum with a potential permanent ban isnt unreasonable. This isnt his first time. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061003/SPORTS01/610030353/1027
No 5 is about right. The guy immediatley made his apology (sincerely) and was man enough to apologise to his team mates and coaching staff. He KNOWS he did wrong. Had he been less apologetic then yes more would be appropriate.
