It's silly that he's so revered as some quarterback guru especially when he came up through the system as a wide receivers coach and has coached one quarterback to a really elite season in Rich Gannon.
I thought of Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson but when I think of developing a QB I feel like it refers to coaching a guy from the ground up, not getting solid play from a veteran
Agree with all you say, but especially an offensive coach. Boy, do we need a new look on that side of the ball.
How about Jack Del Rio? He made the Jaguars relevant as a head coach and he's been coordinating on a winning team since then. I know he's not the offensive mind everybody wants, but I think he's my choice right now.
I think it's a fine line to attribute coaching to a quarterbacks success. Coaches can influence and help quarterbacks get the best out of themselves but I really think it mostly depends on the player. Some quarterbacks are going to be great regardless of where they are and some quarterbacks are really good because they are put into better situations. Watch if and its a big if the Seahawks deteriorate because of their overspending on the secondary and need to pay everyone and we'll see what Russell Wilson is really made of. It's not to take away from what he's done but he's had a hell of a team. Whose to say Alex Smith couldn't have done that?
