I hear you, but I'd still like to see Vick in there. I am geting to the point I don't ever want to see Smith in a Jet uniform again.

Vick is the hope you light a fire for the team and maybe make Geno get his act together. Vick is just a better version of Brunell.

Hey we have a veteran backup but your job is to just stand around and offer happy thoughts.

Matt Simms want to play this year?

Yes but with an avatar that makes it clear you trust Rex, your judgment is suspect.

this post just oozes of failure:

    1) Plenty of QBs have come into that very situation, and done well. Hell when Testaverte went down our friggin PUNTER came in engineered a long drive and threw a touchdown!

    2) He didnt need to do well. but being better then awful would have been nice too.

its all irrelevant. both guys suck and neither is the long term awnser. play Geno so at the end of the year we can say we did our due dilligence and then move on

Well, i mean Geno really didnt turn the ball over either....

His one turnover was a chucked up hail mary type with under 10 seconds to go in the half.

I just like the avatar because it's funny. Assuming he's making the decision (and not Idzik) to start Geno, I'd fire Rex today.

Other than groundless speculation, upon what exactly do you base these conclusions?

A backup is supposed to prepare himself for the possibility that he might have to go into the game every week.

Let's see what happens this week in practice. I want to see the breakdown in reps with the #1's. Geno will still get the majority but it should give everyone a sense of what the coaching staff is doing to shore things up by seeing how many reps Vick gets.

You really can't evaluate a back up based on one game where the go to guy (Decker) is out, the game plan is out because of the score, the opposing D is blanketing your #2 (Kerley) and the rest of the WR are practice squad guys at best.

This week they know Peyton is going to smoke their secondary. They will likely prepare for two things A) running the ball and trying to keep Peyton off the field early on and B) preparing for the inevitable should they get down by 3 or more scores. Last week I it seems clear the coaches thought they could stand toe to toe with SD so there were shell shocked at what happened. Reality has now set in, they shouldn't be shocked anymore.

Vick played and wasn't lights out which the fans expected. But he did play well in Philly last year until he was injured. If you asked Denver who they didn't want to face it would be Vick. And thats who I would start. To say the guys dogshit after playing only one half and in a blow out is idiotic.

They are in a hapless position. Teams have no fear opt their passing attack. They will stack against the run during the course of the game.he field will not happen. Keeping Peyton off the field will be impossible for their O. Getting him off the field will be impossible for their D. The only way to stop Peyton is to hit him early and often. But the way they fail on third down that might not even matter.

Okay, so Vick didn't look like Johnny Unitas out there but, how many reps did he really see with the first team during practice last week? I would like to see Vick start after practicing with the receivers and developing a little chemistry.

Geno is completely lost right now and I think the team is imploding because of it.

I don't understand why teams don't give their backup Qbs many reps in practice during a week considering the number of injuries and poor Qb play. But on Sunday night during the Patriots game either Al or Collingsworth mentioned that Belichick is an exception to this and he gives the backup more reps.

I still think people are going about this all wrong. who cares if vick is better when we have 0 shot this year and he isnt a long-term solution?

anyone who doesnt want Geno should eb campaigning for idzik to bring in someone young off someone elses roster to take snaps from geno. not a 35 year old who cant stay healthy and hasnt been consistently good in quite some time.

I dont think geno is the awnser. but the quickest path to move on from him is to start him all year. the longest path to get rid of him is to play vick, as that will result in revisiting geno at some point

Vick didnt look like Johnny Unitas. thats not a problem

Vick also didnt look as good as the corpse of Johnny Carson, which is kind of a problem.

saying vick wasnt great really understates his play and our QB situation
