I'm sorry, but I can't take it anymore! This franchise seems to be cursed; we take one step forward, and 3 steps back! You might be thinking "duh, tell me something I don't already know", or "how long have you been a Jets fan", but even my eternal optimism is being challenged this year. We finally get a good HC, and he's hamstrung by woeful offensive coordinators. We build a strong defense, except for one little thing - we let Revis and Cromartie get away, and Idzik decides he'd rather sit on 20+ mil. of cap room instead of sign a replacement. We draft a somewhat promising QB, only to saddle him with the worst group of receivers in the league - Kerley, Salas, Nelson, and a gimpy Decker...are you kidding me! This team has become unwatchable, and all I can say is, THANK GOODNESS FOR FANTASY FOOTBALL!
Then how do you explain the fact that Rex took the Jets to the AFC Championship game his first 2 seasons, with a rookie QB Sanchez, RB Shonn Greene, and a mediocre receiving core?
Nothing I can do to help the Jets, but you do have a great avatar. If only that avatar, and my powers can do something for you guys.
How long do you intend to ride those two back to back AFCCG LOSSES? Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. To quote Herm Edwards:"You play to WIN THE GAME". Not just show up for the game. Sorry, but Rex's teams tend to take games off at the most curious times. They weren't even ready to play the 2nd AFCCG. Today, they got waxed and are 1-4 no matter what the rankings say. Rex isn't really a great DC anymore as teams have caught up with his blitzing on 3rd downs. Time for a change on the CS and I'm talking everyone from Rex on down to Sanjay Lai's useless ass. Time to clean house.
I can't speak on the Mets because I don't watch baseball. But the Nets have been a shit show for the majority of its existence. Definitely worse than the Jets.
We simply will have to agree to disagree on this point. Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes and Jerricho Cotchery, circa 2009-2010, were way better than mediocre...
This is horrible, but I am a Jets, Mets and Nets fan. Talk about a miserable sports fan! Devils fan too, but they have at least won the Cup in the last twenty years.
Im not much of a Rex supporter anymore but your broken clock analogy makes no sense here. 2 out of 5 seasons have been very successful. 2 of the 3 unsuccessful seasons werent even losing seasons including last year where he greatly overachieved with this team. He brought a rookie awful QB to back to back AFCCGs. Thats not being right twice. Thats not an accident. It shows that when he had talent he was able to deliver. Its an offensive league now and Im all for bringing in a true offensive headcoach but Rex deserves every bit of credit that he gets for 2009 and 2010.
Where is all this success? Two back to back losses in AFCCG's you're counting as very successful? 8-8 isn't a winning season but its not a losing season either right? As long as we're mediocre, we're good. I've never seen folks value losing as much as some people on this board. I've even seen folks try to sell the concept of a "good loss" as if its anything other than a loss. Unbelievable.. This is what 46 years of losing does to a fanbase.
There is no such thing as a good loss. Who gives a fuck if you lose by a point or 100 points? You still lost. Thats why this keeps going on, because the HC is too much of a fuckin pussy to call some people out and bench people. He's a puppet
I don't follow the Nets but it seems to me that they have an owner who wants to win Mets owners clearly do not, and hired the king of running teams on the cheap to prove it. Maybe the Mets will be in the play-offs in 20 years, like the Pirates & the Royals As for the Jets, I thought Woody & Idzik wanted to win, now I'm not so sure. Jets may be really hamstrung by the debt service on the new stadium. Its why the Cowboys have treaded water for a while, and that maybe where we're headed. There is a plausible explanation for sitting on $20million (ie, save it for various reasons for next year and beyond, like re-signing Wilkerson), but i"m not getting a good feeling here.
yea I consider that successful. To take a rookie QB to an AFCCG is a success. Is the only successful team every season the one that wins the superbowl? I havent been alive for 46 years so I dont care about any of that. Its difficult and slow to build a winning team. If anyone thought this team was talented enough to win this year they are delusional. If Idzik wants to fire Rex Im fine with it but he is set up to fail.
