Holmgren or Bevell. Holmgren worked with Idzik back in Seattle for 1 year I think as Idzik came to the Seahawks. Worked with Gruden too in Tampa Bay. Wow.
This whole "the players love to play for Rex" bullshit doesn't fly with me anymore. Throughout his whole tenure here, Rex has at least 1 game a season that is a blowout and the primary reason being, the players don't show up. I hate to referenced the team across town, but Big Blue plays for Coughlin. Gang green DOES NOT play for Rex.
Kevin Sumlin and David Shaw will be the "hot" college coaches. A Seattle coordinator is also a logical guess. I wouldn't mind them interviewing Hue Jackson.
Don't think Harbaugh will come here. In this case, please bring an upcoming, brilliant NFL Offensive Coordinator or a brilliant College Head Coach.
So we definitely need an offensive minded, innovative HC. With that said, I'd go all out for Harbaugh. If not him then I'd try to lure Sumlin or Shaw away from the college ranks. Other than that, I'd look for hot ass't coaches on the best offensive teams in the NFL and big-time college.
Both will probably be out of the playoff picture and be afterthoughts. The hot college coach is going to be Malzahn and maybe Hugh Freeze (however, I think both Ole Miss and Miss State will come crashing back down to earth, so this might not be a given). The top 5 will probably be: 1. Dan Quinn 2. Darrell Bevell 3. Malzahn 4. Adam Gase 5. Frank Reich Of course if Cowher wants to coach, he can get whatever job he wants that opens up, and if Harbaugh leaves San Fran, he is getting another job too.
