I bet the Jets fan base would be way better if they consistently won. With a team that has been mediocre for so long, its tough for fans to get excited. People/fans really arent that different. Situations are different.
that is a bandwagon mentality, good fans are good fans. GB was much worse than us from the 70s until Holmgren and Favre got to GB. they didn't become a great fanbase when they started winning again.
Agree to disagree. Situations play a real role in how fans react. Guarantee Heat fans are immensely worse this year than years prior. Yankee fans have been worse this year than years prior.
you can't compare sports w/ 41/81 home games to a sport w/ only 8 home games the passion should be there every game for football, that is impossible in the other sports.
lol whatever you say. If the Jets have made the playoffs for 15 years straight with 3 SB's I can guarantee no one would call them shitty fans.
ok, so we have to have the best franchise in the sport in order for the fans to be considered great. I think you made my point for me.
Not at all. I think any team that wins 15 years straight and wins 3 superbowls will have a "great fan base." Lets see how the Patriots fans are in 20 years when they've been trash for a while. Or any team for that matter. I'm not saying the Jets are great fans or terrible fans. I'm saying that when your are almost always mediocre its tough to have a "great fan base." I dont recall anyone applauding the amazing Seattle fan base until they started to win.
I was in Foxboro in 2000 for a Jets-Pats game, they had been getting worse each year and would be 5-11 that year. they had a full house that day. Seattle get's a little too much attention for their fans but even going back to the 80s the Seahawks were known to have great fans and the Kingdome was always one of the loudest buildings in the league.
I don't think you can compare fans based on attendance in a town with one team to the Jets attendance. Still, the Jets have been sold out for over about 35 straight years
Nice try. You're throwing dirt on Idzik's grave after his 2nd draft class has played 4 games. I don't know how you do it. You must have a crystal ball or something. Tell me, how many tackles, QB hits, and ints does Pryor get in 2016? I really got to know.
First off I'm a Jets fan first. I did think they should had bench Geno in the Lions game and then start Geno again this week. If people can't see Geno has improved from last season then they don't know football. That what you want to see out of a 2nd year QB.
You said you hate Jet fans. I don't think it's a coincidence you say that when Jet fans were booing the player your handle is named after.
I'd like to point out that this is a very dumb post - sorry if I hurt your feelings, but it is. Get back to me when you've lived through Joe Walton running a draw or a screen pass on every third and long for five years straight. Or when you can predict a Terry Bradway panic-trade a week before it happens. Sometimes (most times) your personnel is not capable of winning a championship; when you realize that you don't have adequate personnel (at every level including GM and coach), if you don't change it as quickly as possible, you're a buffoon - that's not a football lesson, that's life/business lesson. Personally, I think Rex is a pretty good coach and I am fairly displeased with Idzik's performance to date. But I am absolutely certain of one thing: At least one of these two (and possibly both) is responsible for Geno playing this week ... and whoever has made that decision is too stupid to hold the job he does. And that person needs to go as quickly as possible. End of story. As for the fanbase? Jets fans are terrific fans. The amount of support they provide (ticket sales, merchandise, television ratings, enthusiasm at things like the draft, participation on sports talk radio, etc) is way, way, way disproportionately high for the level of success the team has provided (both in the long and short term). There are very few teams that have sucked this bad historically that has maintained the Jets' level of fan enthusiasm.
When I say that? I have no problems booing and asking for him to be benched it when u disrespect a player I have a problem with.
