This is what I envisioned us doing prior to the draft except with Amaro and colt lyerla. Having lyerla play the FB role in the backfield (a role he played well at Oregon). We would be unpredictable. Having Connor in the backfield reeks of run.
Last I heard Lyerla took an injury settlement with the Packers with the hopes of catching on and playing with a team later this season. So your dream may still be possible down the line….LOL
What happened to that undrafted free agent guy we had in training camp? A lot of guys on here were very excited to see what he could do. Did he suck? Did he get injured?
It seems that the coaches realize the value of the FB in our running schemes. Per BGA in the last game we averaged over 5 ypc with Bohannon in, even if he didn't perform spectacularly as a run blocker. Since Conner's a better blocker, hopefully this means more production from our RBs. Whether the coaches have the sense to run more than pass, or feed the best of the 3 rbs, doesn't seem likely so far.
John Conner was a very productive run blocker for the Giants last year. He graded out positively in that category according to PFF. He struggled his rookie year and under Sparano. It's not a bad signing and at this point your going to get what your going to get. Anybody who is really good is already playing for some team.
Yes. Yes. And yes. I dustinctly remember Connor dropping balls from Sanchez. Bohannen could catch amd made some reasonably impactfu llcatches
So he can block for our running game? So he can protect the QB? So he can catch passes out of the backfield? So he can run the ball on short yardage plays? So he can block on punts, FG attempts, and kickoffs? It's an important position for teams, like ours, that like to run the ball. Would you prefer we trot 11 QBs out there?
