http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11605592/ndamukong-suh-likely-bolt-detroit-lions-season Adam Schefter is reporting that Suh won't resign with the Lions, and he speculates that the Jets and Giants are the frontrunners since he wants to play with a NY team. I don't know how to feel about this one. Great player and I'm not even concerned with him being a dirty player, but I don't know where he'd fit on that defensive line. The Jets have three cornerstones on that defensive line. Suh might be better than all of them, but how do you fit them all in there together and would it make sense to invest in the DL in the offseason when its not a need? You can always make room for him in some way by making a trade or playing a 4-3, but I don't know if this makes sense for the Jets.
He's very good, but he's going to command a boatload of cash. And he won't live up to that ginormous contract, IMO.
We have a ton of cap room, so its a possibility, but I don't think its a good fit. The Jets are the last team in the league that needs more DL help.
While I'd rather use our cap space on corners and offense, the thought of Suh, Wilk, and Sheldon gives me wood....
As much as I'd love to see Suh on this defense, I just can see spending that kind of jack on a free agent for the Dline when we still have to sign Wilk, and there are many other places I rather they spend that premium they'll have next season with the rollover. I'm guessing he goes to the Giants. Anywhere but New England.
makes no sense, we are already going to have tons of money tied up in Wilkerson, richardson, snacks, and coples. adding another huge salary to that makes no sense when our line is already elite and we have enormous issues elsewhere. we need dbs and lbs not lineman We already have the #1 pass rush in football and a top run defense. as great as suh is, its not like we are going to get a ton better when the weak links are all in the back 7
I just don't see how it would make any sense. I realize that we have a lot of cash to work with but if they're going to go after a blue chip player next year I just hope to god it's either an offensive player or CB. If he really does want to play in NY, the Giants would be a much better fit.
Ya let's get another d lineman wtf why would we get suh when that is our strongest position regardless how good he is
It probably won't happen, but I don't understand how anyone would ever run for more than 2 yards against Mo, Suh and Sheldon
Why would we want Suh?we have a ton of holes and Suhs position isn't one of them.I rather resign Snacks who is a free agent next year
It's a nice Madden wet-dream fantasy, but it doesn't make any sort of sense. In our 3-4 set, we already have Wilk and Richardson occupying the DE spots. This is where Suh plays in a 3-4. In our 4-3 set, I suppose you could let Wilkerson play an outside DE role, but that limits his effectiveness. No point in throwing HUGE UFA money in Suh when the upgrade he'd provide over Wilk/Richardson is minimal, especially as Suh is going to get worse as he ages (he'll be 28 by the Super Bowl this year) and Wilk/Richardson improve. I'd much rather bring in a guy like Maclin/Crabtree/Cobb/(pipe dreams) Bryant/DT, at an actual position of need, instead of throwing more money at our one already-elite position. He'll fit in perfectly with the Giants.
Unreal. This team has a struggling offense and a pathetic secondary and this OP is posting about another DL. That should be so far down the Jets priority list right now it's not funny. Get a clue.
