You cannot continue to shoot yourself in the foot. 7 trips inside the Bears 25 yard line and we come away with 19 points. That is out of a possible 42. That's horrible. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the Jets are not going to get any help from the officials ever so we need to stop whining about bad calls affecting the outcomes of games. Our DL is too good so in an era when the league wants offense teams will be allowed to hold which is why having good CB's is as important as having a good QB and a good WR. In the grand scheme of things those 2 calls as bad as they didn't kill us tonight, we are talking big swings but the issue is on both occasions we failed to make plays when they went against us. The PI we get the Bears into 3rd down and allow Cutler all sorts of time on 3rd down to make a play. Notice when the Bears got the ball near midfield following a momentum changing play they went right for the throat, we decide to get fucking cute with a design QB run. Good teams punish the other team for mistakes, the Jets lack that aggression on offense and that is why we are 1-2 and not 3-0. You cannot get the ball near midfield and go 3 and out, it kills you and if we do anything there we might win the game. I'm also sick of the excuses about injuries, this is the team that Idzik and Rex decided to go into the season with in our secondary and this is on them. No depth at all at CB and good QB's will kill us all season. Allen is a 7th round pick and we cannot expect him to play like a 4th rounder because he was a fringe guy to begin with. At this point I expect nothing of Milliner because he can't stay healthy. Walls is a solid #2 or #3 and Wilson has been a steaming pile of dogshit since he was drafted. Geno is being asked to carry a team that lacks firepower on offense. Outside of Ivory and Kerley we have no one who can make a play and it comes down to execution and right now we have few guys who can execute. I saw a lot of positives out of Geno despite the turnovers but the mistakes come because he is being asked to make plays on a team that does not have playmakers. I don't see any comparison at all to Sanchez. Geno is ahead of where Sanchez was at this stage of their careers and while I don't think Geno is an elite QB nor will he ever will be he is a solid starter in this league that can help you win games. He needs help and tonight he was asked to do it all. He just isn't good enough to do it all when he gets no help from the OL. Winters was demolished multiple times and when Decker isn't out there Geno has no safety net. Like I said in my 1st sentence, you cannot ever think the Jets will get a break from the refs because we won't.... ever so you have to stop making stupid mistakes on both sides of the ball if you are going to win games. This team is 2 or 3 plays away from being 3-0 and both of those loses had horrific mistakes by the refs. If we execute we are 3-0 regardless of how horrific the officials are.
Good teams overcome the refs stupidity. If you rely on refs calls, right or wrong, then you arent that good. I still think the Jets are a good team. Or at the very least a decent team. But you said it, 1-6 in the red zone killed us tonight much more than any flag or non-call.
Rex Ryan teams every-year seem so undisciplined. CONSTANTLY every game they shoot themselves in the foot.
At some point, I wasn't even excited that we were in the red zone. I know Jets will find a way to fuck up. Seriously. 7 trips to inside 25 and only 19 points. And we are still talking about Top 5 defense. It is not all about the defense people. Your HC has to have a clue about the offense.
My point is we are a young team and despite all these mistakes we are 2 or 3 plays away from being 3-0. Everyone wants to fire Rex or burn down the stadium but ignoring the fact that we have lost to 2 teams most people expected us to lose to and in both occasions we were a play or 2 away from winning.
Funny part is, we shot ourselves in the foot so many times, yet if the officials made the right call, we still would have won.
Exactly.... if we can find a way to cut down on these mistakes we will start winning games against good teams in spite of the horrible calls going against us.
Factor in that the Bears secondary was a bunch of backups and practice squad players and its even more frustrating.
The team needs discipline, hoping they can shut down Megatron like they did Marshall today, not likely, but hoping.
only Two things has been proven beyond any doubt after 3 games.... The Jets won't win 15 games. The Jets won't lose 16 games. That said, I'd put the odds of the Jets even being a .500 team at this point at about 30%.
The secondary didn't play half that bad today. Yes we are missing a stout corner but this game is not on them Its on the red zone offense like you pointed out. Ivory with 10 carries is kind of shocking. He is the man you should be feeding in the red zone
Please god no....500 is the absolute worst thing you can be. You're missing the playoffs AND missing out on a good draft pick
