Rex would be a huge member in Jets History if they ever won the SB under his control

This is the point that some posters don't get, If I remember correctly and please correct me if I'm wrong, the only QB to come out of college and light up the NFL defenses was Dan Marino.

The rest of the QB's that were listed, even the losers of the SB, had the potential, but that potential did not just materialize on its own, it was developed and harnessed with proper coaching.

So to answer the " how far has he come?" Personally I don't think he has come very far. But I'm going to sit back and give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm a jet fan after all and I wants them to succeed regardless of who the HC is.

Wilkerson would be a famous NFL player if he got 25 sacks this year.

I just don't understand how anyone can say he's progressed. I see the same faults in Rex now than I did 5 years ago. Ok ok he shuts his mouth more. Though he still sounds like a buffoon when he does open his mouth. Does he know how to handle a QB now? No. Does he understand clock management? Does he appreciate his time outs? Does he challenge plays at a highersuccess rate? Are we a more disciplined team? Where has Rex progressed to? I must be missing something. He's the same "ok" coach he's ever been. Those saying he's top ten are completely out of their
Minds. No playoffs this year, get him the fuck outta here. Just get him the fuck outta here.

The fact that he took a 4-5 win football team to 8 wins is what makes him a good head coach. I agree that most head coaches should be dumped after such a long playoff drought but do you really see a new coaching regime being successful in year 1 and 2 in 2015 and 2016 to the point of Super Bowl contention which is where we're supposed to be by then?

It's an honest question. I think it swings both ways in that there are coaches that could do it and there are also coaches that could not. I guess it depends on the replacement if we go 7-9 this year but I think most candidates they brought in if they fired Rex would regress the franchise rather than push them towards success. My own opinion though.

Maybe some candidates wouldn't produce but I think if the Jets were to get a Kevin Sumlin or David Shaw they could improve this team rather quickly.

It's very interesting to think about replacements. I would think we would go offensive since the defense seems to be in place.

Who says we were a 4 win team last year? That's another thing I don't understand? Maybe we were an 8-8 team last year. I'm not saying someone would come in here and won in year one or year two. That's not the question. The question was how far has Rex progressed. I don't see any examples of RR progressing as a coach. I'm open to hearing them. I'm not begging for a new coach. I'm just saying I don't see progression.

Because the talent on the defense is setup to win within the next three years or else the potentially dominating defensive front will be a waste. Thus you want someone who can win in 2015 and 2016 or else you may see the wasted peaks of a defensive front that virtually no team in the league can run on. That type of team wills teams like Carolina and teams like us to the playoffs alone.

If you really think the talent on this roster last year said 8 wins you're delusional. Greg Salas was our #1 receiver at times last year. Put that in perspective.

Fair point about the defense needing to win soon. As far as our talent last year, it's impossible to prove that Rex made them at "above their heads" so it's kinda pointless. Had the offense looked good with Salas as our best WR, then you'd have something. Our
Offense was horrendous so we didn't play up there. As far as the defense, we had some really good games like NO and NE once but we also had games like that cincy embarrassment and Pitt and Buffalo and so on. Again, there's no reason to believe that Rex is a better coach now than he was 5 years ago.

I have wanted him gone for a couple seasons and games like last Sunday's are why. He is a great defensive coach. Maybe the best in the NFL, but he is not a good Head Coach. And how far has he come? Not far at all. He is the same as ever. Problem is the Jets are Rex's team. I don't know how long it would take to create a new identity if the coaching job was changed. I am sure the Jets would take a step back. So tricky situation.

Rex does his part... I wish the front office would stop playing games..get him the talent to win games .. He can bring the best out of anyone. Problem is some players "best" isn't good enough, thats when the issue is out of rex's hands. I know everybody wants to draft and build for the future which is cool.. But Rex is alwAys a "win now" type coach. Idzik has all the cap space I'd like to see him pull the trigger sometimes and bring in talent out of free agency. Love Rex here and you can tell the players do too even players of other teams love Rex. I know we hate the tanny strategy but look where Rex took those teams. Tanny just wasnt smart with his moves and destroyed his own team. Still Rex kept them horrible rosters in playoff contention till the very end of every season

I've seen TONS of games over the last 5 years where the Jets came out as flat as can be. I don't buy this bullshit that people will run through a wall for Rex. Again, I call bullshit.

Because players come out flat doesn't mean they wouldn't run through a wall for the guy.

That's part of being an athlete. Sometimes you just aren't doing well. That doesn't mean you don't have the will to want to go through a wall for someone.
