He side stepped all around the fact that there's no record of nfl asking for the Ray Rice tape. Then when Rachel Nichols re-asked the question his response made him seem like such a liar. lol The next reporter saw how uncomfortable he was. I wish they would have pressed him on the fact that there was no record of the NFL asking for the tape. Let Rachel Nichols ask all the questions.
He was smart to apologize upfront and give his mea culpa for the Ray Rice stuff. He's probably not getting fired, but it's still a possibility because he still needs to answer for the whole tape deal especially if it's ever proven that the NFL received the real tape months ago.
Oh shit the TMZ guy was there, goodell tried to just talk and talk. Would be funny if he dropped a bombshell here but he didn't get time to.
I think they actually grilled him 'some'what but of course you weren't getting any real answers out of him.
firstly, the nfl really needs to get fucking over itself. goodie needs to get over himself. the sponsors need to get over themselves and the fans need to get over themselves. these guys have a job, its to play football. if they fuck up in their lives then the police and the judicial system have a job which is to handle it. if you dont like the way the judicial system handles things take it up with your politicians. for the nfl to feel as though they can control what their employees do on their own time is a problem. and its a problem that has crept into the entire society. fuck that mess if i show up on time, do my work the way it needs to be done and dont cause any issues then everyone really needs to go fuck themselves about what i do on my own time. now if you miss time at work because you are in jail, well thats another story. and why the fuck is everyone so up in arms crazy about some guy punching his wife when they barely made a whimper when nando killed a few people?
Dude, you are 100% correct, the problem is that the NFL has full share of the male sports fan market so they're going after women viewers, male non-sports fans, the wine and cheese crowd, etc etc. The only way they can leverage more ad dollars is by keeping those demographics happy, and unlike traditional sports fans they care about all the soap opera stuff and not just what happens on the field. So the NFL becomes the sponsors' bitch and they have to turn into a political correctness machine of epic proportions. I'd rather they just ignore the ESPN/media hype and do business as usual. I bet you the ratings would stay pretty much the same. I'm sure some sponsors would drop out but there's probably no shortage waiting to fill the void. These scumbags beating on their family are not going to stop being scumbags just because the NFL suspends them. There is ZERO correlation between the league taking that action and the domestic stuff stopping. People are acting like sport fans are enabling that sort of behavior
awful press conference by the NFL...Poorly answered by Goodell and just swerving with corporate speak. No answers
Pretty much spot on. These guys are just a notch above professional wrestlers nowadays. A good chunk of them are going to be fucked up beyond repair because thats the way their minds are wired. Im not saying its okay to beat your wife or kid but lets not all be surprised and call for a change now. Do people forget that Jim Brown is a known domestic abuser? And he played 50 years ago. This isnt a new thing. The NFL is just looked at differently these days and under more of a microscope. As long as there is an NFL this stuff is going to happen.
Agreed, especially when they brought up his quote from the Saints bountygate, he should get killed for not giving a good answer.
