It has only been 4 games man. Give him some credit. He is doing the best he can with what he has. The coach can only do so much, but when the players are getting blown off the line of scrimage almost every play, you can only do so much. Get some patience, and just have some faith...

They still need more guys to run the 3-4, it's a big transition. Give him a year...

i don't understand why this needed a new topic on this when there aready a stupid toic about sutton three threads down.. but this is outrageous that people are criticizing any coach on this staff. Sutton hasn't been so bad that he should be fired after 4 games.

I know this is a 3-4 scheme but Donnie used the same personnel minus Abraham (who was hurt in the playoffs) and we still had a very aggressive defense especially against the run. Now we probably have an improved secondary and even when we run 4-3 sets we look like crap.

The offical Jet fan motto should be "When in Doubt Blame the Assistant Coaching Staff!".

This isn't so much Sutton's D, as much as it is Mangini's. Maybe we should fire all of them.

  12. So 4 games into a new era...completely rebuilding the entire team from top to bottom...you have concluded that the DC is not the answer. Keeping in mind the team is 2-2?

    Yeah...

Uhh... yeah. So, the Colts put up 31 points on us.

Big deal. They do that to pretty much everyone.

I think everyone would agree that we don't have a Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, or Chicago Bears caliber defense in NY yet because we just don't have the skill in the players. It's going to be awhile. Be patient.

agreed. even herman's defenses improved considerably during the year. this one is a lot more complicated than the cover 2 he ran. i think alot of the problems are mental, and some are technique oriented. also communication is very important and that comes with time. i truly believe they will improve considerably before season's end, barring major injuries (read Vilma and rhodes)

We don't have the players, and in the first half, we basically confused the hell outta Manning.

Keep in mind that Mangini will also have a large impact on the defense, so a big time D-Coordinator might not want to be in his shadow.

We had a real veteran run stopping DT on that team, Ferguson. He kept Vilma clean and took all the pressure off D'Rob.

If you think Sutton is any more than a puppet you are sorely mistaken. Anything that happens on defense is mangini's call.

If the d is bad it falls on mangini not sutton.

Remember, the only year Mangini was d cord. the pats were ranked 27th in total defense.

VERY good point, I completely forgot about him. Our defense's problem is mainly the line.. no push and and no pressure. In 04 we had Barton and Vilma all over the place because of Fergy I suppose.

We have Vilma playing MLB, and Robertson playing NT. What more do you expect?

Mangini calls the Shots on D, Sutton is there to assist him
