The reason I didn't really include the dropped pick is that Pryor was in position, attempted to make the catch but dropped it, which is a physical mistake. If the identical situation happened again, Pryor could intercept it. On the other hand, no matter how many times Geno made the same decision in those two situations only bad things would happen. Pryor can't really decide to catch the ball better, he was already in position, so I'm not really bothered by it.
the jets played sloppy football last sunday but they showed just how good they could actually be. they dominated the raiders all over the field, but a few key mistakes cost them the chance to prove it on the scoreboard. No matter, the jets are still in a good position this season and im optimistic that things will look good come week 8. geno has command of the offense and is showing a lot of improvement in his footwork. he still has some flaws but he has gotten so much better its not an issue of concern until it becomes an issue with winning games or playing the position effectively. the running game is strong like we thought and im pleasantly happy with our wr group. allen is a beast at corner and could provide that safety net the jets need right now with the injuries at corner. when milliner comes back we might roll with milliner/walls but honestly i think id prefer to have it milliner/allen with landry and pryor at safety. that puts our best players on the back end and really gives this team the best chance IMO. season is looking up right now and not cause they won, cause they looked GOOD doing so.
+1. I said the same thing while watching the game. This was the first time since the Brett Favre era we looked like we had a well balanced offensive attack.
Fair enough. I felt like that was more of a mental error since Pryor said he should have focused on catching the ball and not on what angle to take after he caught it. He could've caught it even with poor focus, but IMO with good focus he'd have caught it almost every time.
I was impressed with the physicality of both the O & D lines. They is stout. Why do you think the both the defensive & offensive backfields looked good. It starts where you draw the line in the dirt.
Pump the brakes please. The Jets played a nice game Sunday and are rewarded for it with a 1-0 record. But, "destroy teams" ? Please. Oakland hasn't won on the east coast for 14 (now 15) straight games. Due to the Jet's unforced errors they only won by 5 points. Last year they were 8-8, the year before that I think they were 6-10 and the year before that they were 8-8. Who the hell are they destroying? Much like the 49ers? In that same span, the 49ers, who you compare them to, have gone 13-3, 11-4-1 and 12-4. I'm watching next weeks game closely, If they beat Green Bay in Green Bay, I'll start to worry. They got away with sloppy football because they were playing a team that will be lucky to win 4 games, that won't fly against many of their next 9 opponents. After the Patriots' first game, I'm not as confident as I once was that they will be be able to handle the Jets. I'm very glad the first meeting is in Foxboro. The next month should be very interesting.
I apologize. I thought the poster was saying Like the 49ers, the Jets destroy teams. After re reading, I see what he was saying.
Yeah man, totally agree. I have dreaded seeing the Jets offense on the field since 2011. I could do without the goal line antics, but all in all, I was very confident in what the offense was doing. Like everybody has said, the penalties have to get cleaned up as the opponents get tougher...
I think your points are still valid. It doesn't matter how much we dominate a team, we need to score points. I don't think we can just throw out the mistakes as correctable, as they are the same mistakes we have seen over and over. If not for one big running play, we could have lost the game we dominated in every aspect. Fixing mistakes is easier than fixing talent, but they need to be fixed or we will lose games we should win.
Everyone telling me that being up in fourth quarter in a two possession game meant us letting clock run out on Raiders. I guess this is our new formula for success if it continues to go this way. Also, seeing Jets as 5 or 6 point favorites was pretty strange in recent years lol
First of all... your a patriots fan...watch your tone when you type to me. 2nd I was using the 9ers as an example for the post i commented on.. didnt compare us to the 9ers im not a homer im realist. 3rd , u damn right those bums cant handle the jets. Yall think Moreno and his Dwayne Wade knees was something? ohhh just wait.
We dominated them but could have lost the game if the Raiders were able to get anything going, the onside kick made me real nervous after the Jones madden like catch
I really don't think anyone over reacts worse then Jet fans out of any fanbase in sports, guys were in full blown panic mode after the Geno turnovers calling for Vick and For Rex to be fired and the lack of dicpline and so on,now we are printing our AFC champions shirts because we beat the most losing franchise in the last decade in the Raiders with a Rookie QB in his first ever NFL game ,I'm excited to see how we play against an actual NFL contender this Sunday
This must have been the scariest "domination" I've ever seen. We put 400yds of offense on them and win by 5pts. If it wasn't for Ivory's run, we possibly could have given this game away. This team still lacks a killer instinct for whatever reason. I have no idea why we can't "dominate" wire to wire but we find ways to keep the other team in the game. We play great D all day long and in the 4th, when we should be closing, they manage to score a TD? This is Domination? If so, give me vanilla. Dumb assed penalties, getting victimized on onside kicks, it's always something that's keeping this team from reaching the elite level. Maybe this age of Parity will keep every team in the game every Sunday and the concept of "domination" might need to be tweaked a bit. Just like in the past, this team needs to learn how to CLOSE OUT GAMES!
They have the mechanic...... The driver still has something to prove * hopefully they dont need to depend on the pit crew
