I know it's early, but he had a pretty solid game today for a rookie, 2 passes defensed, including an almost pick, and 4 tackles. He also seemed to be playing very disciplined, being in the right place on several plays, and not overextending to make a play, instead choosing to control his area while his teammates do their job. I just read that Clowney left the Houston game with what they fear is a Meniscus tear in his knee, which would mean surgery and extended missed time. Khalil Mack didn't really do anything noticeable for most of the game, and I thought Pryor had by far a better game. Justin Gilbert, the top corner taken by Cleveland, really struggled in today's game and in the preseason. These guys along with Pryor were the front-runners I think to win DROY this year. So seems like Pryor is in good position if he can stay healthy and continue to play the way he did today to bring in a 2nd consecutive award to us. Have I missed some other outstanding defensive rookies?
Mack got a little bit of pressure on Geno today that I saw. At least on two different occasions. Still, I agree, Pryor has a very good chance to win DROY.
Well his chances just got a hell of a lot better with Clowney gone for atleast a month. As for other rookies I was pretty shocked to see that Darqueze Dennard was inactive today.
dennard is hurt. I think the other guys in the running are Shazier and Mack for sure. Pryor has got to make that pick though ...hard to get ROY as a defensive back so has to capitalize.
If it's what they fear, I think it would be more than a month. As far as Dennard, the fact that Rex LOVES press corners and didn't take Dennard suggested to me that the guy's not very good. It seems like he just doesn't have NFL-level speed and athleticism.
Wilson was a late 1st round pick, almost 2nd round, and he does actually have all the measurables, speed athleticism, etc. They just forgot to measure his neck turning capacity at the combine.
Way too early for this...he needs to be an elite safety, imdividual accolades and how he relative to a DE LB or CB is not really relevant
They would have been a lot higher if he got that ball that hit BOTH his hands. But he was solid, give him some more experience and he has a chance to be really good.
Not that it really matters, but he really needs to start catching interceptions if he wants to get DROY.
Ha-Ha might be his only competition. I think he's going to be really good. They'll face off next weekend.
I think it's rare for safeties to win it, more likely to be an OLB/DE statistically. It'd be awesome and I'm a huge fan of the pick and he's look solid so far, if he had got that pick 6 his bid would be a lot stronger already.
EASY, guys. He looked good, but should have also had what could have been a pick 6 but he completely botched it. He does make our secondary look better than it is..
