I posted this on another thread, this is what I think.

The defense is in transition, there is a lack of talent, players have there head up their asses on the field, and it is only the 4 game. Come on, a little perspective here. Maybe we can judge the guy after he gets the correct personnel for the defense and a DL that is halfway competent. And remember Mangini is a defensive guru, how much of it is his fault too?

Yeah, if you can replace him with Shawn Merriman and John Abraham, that will work.

Sutton's defense (his plan) did a good job holding Manning down for 55 minutes with chewing gum and rubber bands (his players). The defense lacks teeth, there is nobody out there to help them this year.

We must settle for what we have and Chad and the ST must continue to carry this toothless group until we can draft some fangs next year. PERIOD.

Sutton is fine. The last thing I want the Mangini regime to become is a revolving door for coaches.

I think we still lack some ingredients on our D. To blame it on the coach is ludicris.

We have also only played 4 professional games under his system. Patience. Patience. Patience. I know we haven't won a super bowl in almost 40 years, but we need to be patient.

I still think we could grab an assistant from the steelers so we could add some more creativity to our defensive gameplan.

1 game on the field and 5 weeks for his groin to heal before he is ready to go again.

Even agreeing with that premise one monster game out of 6 is far more production then we'll be getting from any of our front 7.

Isnt Mangini pretty much managing the defense its his system not Suttons. Sutton has just been around it before. This is not Herm Edwards who just sits around lookin pretty anymore guys a new DC wont do anything this is Mangini's defensive scheme. Sutton is there to just help out abit.

    no disrespect intended... but!

this is silly and terribly premature, you do realize the remaining season is long enough for the Jets to finish first in every defensive category, then how would we look getting rid of our coordinator?

With the money we saved we can sign a FA Nose Tackle and run stuffing ILB during the off season.

Outside pass-rushing linebacker might be more important than a run-stuffing ILB...I like Barton though.

Outside pass rushers are to expensive in FA, if we can get some resonably priced groceries in FA prior to the draft we can try and get a speed rusher in the first round.

    Sutton is not the guy

we have a great young coach and offensive coordinator, we now need to get a creative defensive coordinator.

I know this team is a year away from having most of the talent in place to start building a perenial championship caliber team under Mangini but Sutton still is not the guy that can adjust to the talent he has.
