Jets claimed WR Walter Powell off waivers from the Cardinals. Powell is an undersized, athletically-deficient prospect out of Murray State. The Jets would have been better off keeping Quincy Enunwa stashed on the 53. Sep 1 - 5:10 PM Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9691/walter-powell
Isn't this one of the few guys that the Jets had visit pre-draft? I believe a lot of us were "predicting" him as a draft pick when he was one of the few guys left on that list in the later rounds, but I could be remembering incorrectly...
Don't understand it at all. Leaves us with 3 ILB one of which (Bellore) has an injured calf from the last preseason game. He also plays special teams so you can't guarantee that he won't hurt himself there. No way we can only dress those 3 on game days, so even if we're signing George back to the PS it doesn't make sense to me.
If that's true I take back everything good I ever said about this new FO. They obviously don't know JACK SHIT
Undersized? Athletically deficient? Sounds like the opposite of Hill. Maybe the Jets are on to something here.
People upset over Jeremiah George most likely heading to the practice squad is just about par for the course with this fanbase.
Why did we just keep two draft picks on the 53, only to release them for players that couldn't even make other teams rosters? Makes no sense. I liked Enunwa's upside and George was a 5th rounder....why didn't we just use that 5th in a trade-up? Oy
The Jets are gambling that waiting more than 24 hours to sign certain players will guaranteed that other teams won't gamble PS spots. And if we get those players on the PS roster, cool. But that roster is subject to picking by any team in the league at any time.
Ok I had to do some research on him. His measurables compare to Kerley in size and speed but JK had a much better 20 yd shuttle time. I found 1 highlight from preseason: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...36q4DnnTUQ-h0ESwQ&sig2=0QLD-gSVK0bcmGTTnVFqUQ And Cards fans generally seem high on him: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/f4/walt-powell-claimed-by-jets-211977.html
I can't wrap my brain around this one. Were Salas, Saunders, Enunwa, Evans, and Hakim not enough WR projects?
