Breaking: the Patriots have agreed to parameters of a trade to send Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins to the Bucs for a pick and TE Tim Wright

Wow if true.. We should knock Brady on his ass multiple times a game now.

Huh. That's an interesting trade for the Pats. Gotta think the pick is a second rounder at least. Mankins has been an anchor for that line. Wilk and Sheldon better feast on their replacement. Maybe the Pats know something about Mankins that the Bucs don't. Also, why are the Bucs so obsessed with getting guards? Firs they busted on Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks (terribly unfortunate circumstances for Nicks) and now they continue investing heavily at OG?

Was Mankins making noise about his contract? That's one sure way out of Belliville.

Because the two Guards they had starting yesterday make Winters and Colon look like superstars.

    Pick is a 4th rounder.

Maybe this trade is also saying something about Gronk.

Here are my thoughts from our forum:

Pick is a 4th rounder, by the way. This deal also clears ~5.2m in 2014 and ~7m in 2015.

Mark my words, this trade was made cause pats needed the space to extend Revis. Mankins would have taken up a chunk of salary cap. Can't please them both.

Did anyone know of Tim Wright before today? They dafted ASJ in the 2nd round so it should say all they need to know. Here are the Pats again thinking they can do anything with any player as long as Brady is the QB.

I don't think this is a deal Belichick makes unless he is pretty confident in the replacement.

Confidence is blinding. How do you trade your best offensive lineman when your QB is aging and needs to be protected for a 2nd year tight end who now needs to learn the complex NE playbook in 2 weeks?

Knowing Beledick, they got somebody 7 years younger and better at guard to replace him.

uhm, because you're confident you have a solid replacement already on the roster?

I mean I hope the backup just blows and Brady gets killed as much as anyone but I really don't believe that will be the case until I see it.

Wright was pretty decent for the Bucs last season.

Wonder if they did this to try and sign Revis to an extremely large contract. Man I hope they dedicate 10-15% of the cap to him.

    More
Mankins allowed 11 sacks in 2013, with the occasional time at tackle. Among guards, only Brian Winters allowed more.

9 of those sacks came after week 8.
