Eli is definitely on a decline - I personally don't think Nassib is anything special but he's certainty got an opportunity to compete for the job in the near future.

You have to like Allen because he seems to want the challenge. And he is long. I think Sudfeld has athletic ability but honestly, on 2 lob passes in the end zone this pre season, he turned too early. They were not terrible passes. He wanted to face the ball but went into his backpedal so early he did not get back to them. Still, the TE position is looking improved drastically. Geno--I like the fact that he knew when not to throw. And he did look completely different in the pocket. The Giants did get some pressure and he took some hits to deliver the ball. Wilson gets beat by all wideouts, great and small. Tired of his act.

Can you go in depth as to why you believe the Patriots will regress. I am under the impression that they are better than last year, and have a well rounded roster which I believe is the best in the AFC. (of course better roster doesnt mean more wins, we have seen Patriots teams improve but not win as many games (2010- 14 wins, 2011 - 13 wins with a better roster, of course they were more succesful in the playoffs, although they did get a free win against Tebow)

And ill be 100% honest with ya, I think its going to be Seattle in the NFC. I think its going to be New England in the AFC. Seattle will defeat the Patriots in Arizona (Patriots returning to the scene of the crime 7 years later, and that will be the last Super Bowl the Patriots make in the Brady era). I think it will be like 27-17 type of game, Seattle finally breaks through and repeats. (I believe they will once again win 7-8 home games, 4-5 road games, get the bye week and get back to the Super Bowl)

Well this may depend on what prism one looks thru......my sunny prism tells me the TE position with Amaro, Cumberland, and sudfeld is now a position of strength. The OL looked good as well. Smith in my opinion was decent but still missed a couple throws that he has to hit if they want to succeed. Running game as well is fine and another position of strength.

I am concerned about depth at WR - we should be better off considering the talent that has recently come out of college at this position. If decker or Kerley go down - we are back to square one and opposing defenses will dare us to pass.

Forget corner, we are screwed, and we'll chalk it up to a combination of injury, poor drafting, and being too stingy in free agency. Nuff said.

Chris Johnson has video game speed. Holy crap can that guy juke and accelerate in space. Yikes.

    Positives
Geno looks much improved from a year ago.
The JETS gave Geno some actual weapons to catch the ball in Decker and Amaro to go along with Kerley.
The running game looks effective. CJ pretty much is the starter bringing the much needed speed with Ivory providing the power.
The O-Line was controlling the LOS in the run and passing game.
The D-Line a.k.a Sons of Anarchy: Wilkerson, Richardson, Snacks, Coples, and Babin were solid.
AA looked better this week at corner but I rather see him starting with Pryor at safety.
Calvin Pryor will be the possible DROY...he didn't make as many plays like he did last week against Cincinnati but he is always around the ball.
The 1st team corners actually played and looked way better and weren't giving the WRs a ten yard cushion(which drives me crazy)...would have been nice to see some INT's though.

    Negatives
First play of the game, Dawan Landry in coverage against Victor Cruz...really?!?!
Brian Winters and Willie Colon...these two always negate big plays because of holding smh.
The DEFENSE at the two minute mark...it's as if the JETS can't get off the field and always give up a TD.
The DEFENSE on stretch plays...run at the front and it's neutralized...run to the outside and the run D doesn't contain the edge.
The use of Sudfeld in the redzone...MM needs to take a page out of the Detroit Lions playbook and just line him up out wide and let Geno just throw a jump ball to his 6'7 TE...like Stafford does with Fauria... when the JETS get to the 5 yard line.
Kyle Wilson - For a guy to have played with Revis and Cromartie, he doesn't cover guys...he chases them...and I'm just screaming turn your head around and he would make more plays on the ball.
Stephen Hill - He's 6'4 and plays like he's 4'6...he reminds me of the kid from the Little Giants that can't catch the football...visualize that it's toilet paper Stephen smh.
Brandon Dixon - Must work on his technique...for a fast guy to get beat like that says it all...he'll either get cut or be on the practice squad.
Josh Bush - He knows Rex's system yet doesn't make plays like Pryor...it's just mind boggling how he's still on this team.

Overall, the offense looks ready to take flight when the season starts but the JETS need better depth at the corner and safety positions. I can't wait for the regular season to finally get here.

Geno looks much improved. Looks more comfortable in the pocket than RG3, and that is a real positive running an NFL offense.
Amaro looked better. Still really raw, but lots of talent.
Definitely have the opportunity for a great running game. I see Ivory getting more touches (less minus carries) with CJ2K as an explosive change-up. This also opens things up for Geno in the passing game,

Not as impressed with the D. Until the secondary improves or gets healthy, Rex will have a tough time executing his exotic blitz package. Really good QBs will slice them up if the DBs are left to play man.
Good run stopping front, but they will need to get more pressure without the blitz. The Giants OL is a mess and the Jets didn't really exploit it the way I thought they would.

Time of possession seems like it's gonna be really important to the Jets, and they appear to have an offense that can eat up time if Marty doesn't get overanxious with the play calling.

    Worrisome things:
Allen getting hurt/banged up. Definitely need him healthy
    Kyle Wilson

    Exciting things:
    Amaro
    Geno
    Chris Johnson/Ivory
MM having weapons at his disposal
    DL
For the starters, penalties were down, especially for the OL which is great to see

    Position battles:
Salas might get into the WR group and get some good playing time.
I think Hakim might get the edge over Ford for KR
Walls is probably going to see his way into the CB rotation one way or another.

This may sound overly simplistic, but our season will come down to... can we score more points per game than we give up? Will Milliner's return make much difference over what we saw last night?
I think we will see more exciting football from this team, but I'm not sure it will win a lot more games than last years squad.

It's been a long time since I've said it but oddly I'm more confident in our offense than our defense.

Really happy for both Geno and Amaro, two guys who the media and some of the fans have been after for a while. Just really happy for both of em, hoping it translates onto the regular season.

That is the Geno I knew we'd be getting, we just needed to be patient. I don't think every game will be like that but I just love seeing his growth and development heading into year 2. And I am really impressed with how far Amaro has come on his blocking, especially down the field. I don't think its odd to say he's the best blocking TE on the team. He will have some mind-numbing holds that could kill drives down the road but that comes with a rookie....its growing pains. It will be scarier when he gets more comfortable because he is a very fluid athlete and has no trouble causing separation to get open and is fearless in the middle of the field.

the turnaround in seattle took 3-4 years, and the new gm is only in year 2. i expect hill and wilson will be gone next year and some spots like corner and receiver will get targeted in next draft, plus idzik will clear more cap room in case a top free agent springs loose, or we need to lock up some of our younger stars.

I'm abandoning the Hill wagon. He just doesn't look natural out there. Don't care about his potential anymore.

They moved Eli away from the pocket because of the pass protection(Or lack there of) so I thought the Jets did their job because Eli should not be throwing on the run. Eli operates with a clean pocket.

We were sending 4 and getting pressure on Eli Manning yesterday [before they had him rolling out of the pocket]. I think the Giants OL is pretty bad - so against a better offensive line it won't be an easy feat.

If we finished plays we should of had 2 TOs [fumble and a pick 6]

Well, although he played well overall, he did give up a high arc throw, similar to many he gave up last year. I think if he becomes a starter, opposing quarterbacks will constantly test him by throwing high, knowing that he has problems interfering with those kinds of balls. He might still be our best option right now, if Milliner or Allen cant play, but he is what he is.

One thing that I am excited about after yesterday, is that IF Geno does improve this year and we stick with him, that's gonna really open things up for us when it comes to next year's draft. If we don't have to draft another QB, we could go in a lot of directions. CBs if Milliner or Allen don't work out, maybe a free safety to move Pryor to SS, maybe a Left Tackle to be groomed as Ferguson gets older, maybe even a stud WR if the passing game looks good. Things could get interesting.

I really like Antonio Allen as a player. He plays hard and he's very competent in everything he tries to do. That's why he covered Gronkowski so well last year. I have some questions whether he has the speed to play outside though. He's quick enough but I'm not sure his straight line speed is going to be ok against a lot of teams. The Jets might want to try him in the slot. That job he can do because it is all about quickness, anticipation and reaction time.

I really think the place he is going to wind up is as an interchangeable safety alongside Calvin Pryor at some point. You don't want to force Pryor to cover the tight ends all the time and Allen is good at that.. Pryor's going to be much better if he's left to roam 5-15 yards off the LOS as the QB is surveying the defense. He could be anywhere at the snap and nobody will be comfortable coming across the middle on the Jets if they let Pryor have a relatively free hand this season.

The biggest take away from the game for me are two things..

Geno looks like a different player now. Very encouraging.

Salas should be a starting WR for this team. Period. He just makes plays, consistently, he is one guy that should prove to us as fans if this competition mantra is the real deal. Salas has competed and has outplayed every WR on this team that isn't named Kerley/Decker.
