There is no reason this can not be a successful offense. The OL is solid enough. They have three very competent runners two of which can run, catch and block. We are stacked at tight end. Amaro looks to be a very good receiver, cumberland is solid and at 6' 7" Sudfield is a freaking giant and ideal red zone target. WRs are good enough group. This will be up to Morningwood to use the tools he has, and he has tools. He should be albe to rack up run yards regardless. Between Johnson and Powell who are threats to catch and run Geno will always have an outlet and they should use them often. Double set backs. Two tight end sets. You could be very creative with this squad, not even to mention the WRs. You could play short and medium range stuff all day and just throw deep to Hill or Ford a few times a game to keep the D honest regardless of whether they catch it or not. I hope Morningwood is able to make the most of what he has.
On paper and with Geno's apparent improvement over his rookie season, I agree 100%. And yes, it will boil down to the O-Line blasting holes for the run game and giving Geno a clean pocket to make his progressions/throws. The addition of Decker, Amaro, and CJ will be significant factors. But like always, our games will be won or lost in the trenches...both sides.
I agree, no excuses. We don't have a top 5 offense, but we should at least be able to score a TD in the first half. If Geno performs adequately (for a 2nd year QB) and the O-Line limits the penalties we should be ok on offense, and the Jets haven't been ok on offense in years.
I agree with you guys,,,but our running game will be non existent if opposing teams are torching our CB s and we are constantly playing from behind !
Did you watch the running game? No holes were being opened until the 2nd team defense came in.. Then they looked like superstars.. If we don't get the running game going this year, we are going to have big problems.. Geno is nowhere near ready to be throwing 25+ times a game.
most talented O we have had since 2010. I don't expect a great O but I expect a middle of the pack one which will be a huge improvement.
I have no clue why you think we're stacked at TE. Amaro is a rookie who has looked awful in camp according to all reports (albeit better in games), Cumberland is a rather one dimensional TE that is pretty mediocre at that one dimension (and is banged up at the moment) and Sudfeld is a third string TE. Our WRs are mediocre. Our OL is key. They could be a plus, they could be a minus.
Yeah...I'm somehow missing all this offensive talent too. The majority of this offense is put together with players that were let go by other teams. It looks like Nelson is the #2 WR and he was let go by the Bills. I said it before the draft and I think it still applies this year...the first pick should either be an Olineman or a WR (take the best available) and the second pick should be whatever wasn't taken with the first. Or somehow trade the RAMS for Stedman Bailey.
Best at RB/WR/TE we've been in a long time. If the OLine can perform adequately, there is no reason for the Jets offense to not improve.
I think the offense will be middle of the pack. Between our running backs, Decker, Kerley, Nelson, Cumberland and Amaro we should be alright.
Not if our offense is grinding out first downs and opposing offenses are spending most their time on the sideline. Guessing our d won't be as bad as most here seem to think, just a hunch. Even an 'average' Rex Ryan d in this league will probably end up being stout.
Clearly, we are all glad you don't help make selections for the team. The O looks to be built perfectly for our d. Three strong running backs; control the clock, keep our d and their o off the field. The dark force is strong in you.
There's no way to get Bailey from the Rams. He's suspended for the first 4 games of the season due to PED violation and the Rams still have him working with the first team in the slot and he's their best receiver in camp so far.
Yeah, that is the exact description I would use for MM's offense...lol. Any NFL team needs a true #1 WR and I'm still not sure that Decker can be that guy. Without Decker playing against Cinci, the Bengals had 2 WRs that were better than any WR playing in the Green and White that day. Yeah...that is why I said "somehow".
Haha you're so cute. Yeah, I'm sure MM has never adjusted his offense. It's just throw the ball no matter what, even if we have 3 serviceable running backs for mixing up GnP. Not sure, if you watched the team last season, but we had Jeremy Kerley leading our passing attack and Kellen Winslow and David Nelson. Guessing our passing attack has improved a bit lol
