im not making any gut reactions on anything but patterson

the guy is a vet and he got beat like a rookie. out of position, losing his footing. either he turns it around completely or he is going to be a gaping hole in the jets defense. id rather let a young guy with upside work out his mistakes than an aging vet that cant get it right.

of course there are politics and usually you give the vet a chance to start in the preseason so hopefully this is just patterson getting his dues but he doesnt deserve to start, not when weve got guys like walls and mcdougle whom we want to develop

on the bright side Dee looked good seems if he stays injury free we only need to be worried about one side of the field.

I believe Luck threw one maybe two passes toward Dee's side and he defensed them both and he never went back to his side
this is when he started picking on Patterson. And Patterson was not up for the challenge, Looked lost, Like a rookie. I do understand
this is a Pre-Season game but that has to change. Also our defense against their ONE's looked bad as well.

I thought he got beat on that one deep pass he broke up. Hasselbeck just under threw it. If Luck was in there for that play I think it goes for six and we have a different view of Milliner's play last night too

Idzik is going to take shit all year for Patterson, sorry to say, get used to it guys. He won't be as bad all year as he was last night of course, but Idzik had over 20M in cap room and chose Patterson, the cheap route over many better corners including Revis. Threads like this will happen all year.

This topic as a whole is a joke but it does make me wonder if Patterson struggles again next game does Idzik start to look into the trade market to upgrade CB?

Hey irishwhip03 You know I was thinking the same thing. But I would not be looking for a high bridge until
the second or third Pre-Season game. Then maybe pull the trigger.

Why has this thread gotten to two pages? Patterson may not have looked good, but the premise of this thread is absolutely stupid. The premise of this user in general is pretty stupid. Pure troll.

In Patterson's defense he was NEVER that good to begin with. He's a journeyman on his 7th team who had one very good month last season. How high could we set the bar for a player of such low caliber?

The ONE huge criticism I have for John Idzik this year. CB. He didn't make things happen, There was reports of him working really slow in Free Agency just to call a guy in. The Jets failed to bring in so many guys. By the time DRC visited...they should have locked him inside and gave him the contract the giants did.

CURRENTLY more than $21 MILLION in cap space. What is he planning to do with it???! Are they planning to give Mo Wilkerson the biggest contract a DE can get?

That cap space can be rolled over into next year's cap.

Roll it over into next year. We can sign Mo and a bunch of free agents for what I think will be a chance to go deep in playoffs. Not to sound like a dark sider, but I think we won't be competitive till next season. I can see the offensive settling in to finally become decent and we will just need to get a few good free agents to put us over the hump.

McDougle? Patterson? Walls? Wilson? It's all so confusing. I really wish we had a defensive minded HC we could trust to sort it all out.
