Giacomini's learning a new blocking scheme (he was strictly zone-blocking in Seattle, it's more complex here), give him time. Patterson does worry me though.
If Patterson isn't up to it, Darren Walls can absolutely start on the other side. Walls isn't a game breaker, but he'll be competent. I wouldn't be ridiculously worried at this point, and Patterson will have the chance to learn from these mistakes. If he's lousy all preseason and Rex starts him anyway, that's when I'll be worried.
Yea but there's no excuses for him,this is his 10th year in the league and his 7th team.If he was a rookie you would cut him a break and give him 3-5 years to try and make a few plays like we always do
Patterson was known for being a guy that gets beat. I'd rather see Wilson or Walls get a shot at the CB 2 spot.
That was pathetic. Patterson was beat like a foster child: slow and flat footed, out of position, falling for stop n go moves, slipping, penalty, befuddled look all night long. At this rate, he wont survive the preseason. Walls is got skillz. McDougle made a few nice plays and seems to have a knack. If Rex puts Wilson in as the CB, I will need a new tv by week 3 because I will surely break it.
It's only one game, but Patterson looked absolutely awful. It's frustrating that we're just sitting on $15 million in cap room right now but chose to pass on Revis, DRC, Flowers, and even Cromartie.
Pre-season is a time to get players used to the rigours of game time. Pre-season is a time for forumites to get used to the knee-jerk reactions based on meaningless games GENO STINKS!!!111111
