Oh for Gods sake relax already. He's a rookie coach who made a mistake. As long as he ;learns from it, I'm happy. This is a good football team the Jets have, and will only get better as the season progresses. I'm proud of how they performed today.
Alot of Jet fans are showing their true colors in criticizing after the fact a move that was absolutely the right thing to do. Never let me down,,, one of the worst fan bases in sports. I'm embarrassed.
i understand that, and i am proud of the way the guys fought all day. i just have an undying hatred of manning. he should be a jet, but instead he went back to the college he graduated from that year to play another season in college, hence, we took keyshawn. so anytime we have the chance to put him down, i want the jets to hand him his ass. im just dissapointed with the fact that for as smart as mangini is, he made such a glaring mistake. i know me and my friends arent the only ones who said "we're gonna lose by 3" as soon as he opted not to kick it. even before the int. its jet karma. it always comes back to bite our asses when we leave points on the field. there was too much time, and we were tied at that point. there was no legitimate reason to not kick the fg.
I give magini credit, honestly this is a tough offense to defend and our inexperience lead to our demise, justin miller just sucks at coverage and he let reggie wayne throw him around. can't blame magini on that one, you cant blame mangini with that 4th and goal, Pennington is to blame for that for choosing to throw to james dearth in coverage. It was a tough fought game, Mangini and company played and coached a good game. Just we missed out on plays, if they get that td its a different game, regardless even they missed out they had a lead and the D crumbled. Jets had their chance to stop the D and they messed up. remember Vilma had an interception and he dropped it, dont know why the replay booth didnt take a look at that one either. But you know things happen, this team was in the game and you cant knock them for that. Jets played their hearts out and almost shocked the Colts, I still back mangini for it because if he doesnt go for it hes considered a coward by you guys, So just relax, and be proud the team is improving hope still exist.
Everyone who says we should have kicked the FG is playing 20-20 hindsight math. As you saw quite clearly during the rest of the game, the Colts can score points in handfuls, and especially vs. our defense. We had been dominating in the previous couple of series running the ball and executing on pass plays, so we had the momentum at that point as well. If you don't like the outcome of the play, you should criticize the play called. Not the decision to go for it.
embarrassed by what? are you retarded? nobody is badmouthing mangini, but saying it was a big mistake to not go for 3 there. yank your head out of your ass and get a little reading comprehension going there bub. you should be embarrassed because you're slow, not by the fanbase.
We didn't take Keyshawn in '97 because Peyton stayed at Tennessee. We ended up trading the pick to St. Louis (who drafted Orlando Pace) and we selected James Farrior at like pick #8.
dude, i said it to my friends when the team lined up at the LoS. before the snap. no way for me to prove this to you, so i dont know what to tell you. but i repeated it throughout the rest of the game. when it was 24-21 as well...
my bad, i forgot that pace went #1 that year. but it still makes me nuts. i have some grudge issues...
Mangini gets a pass. the bottom line::Jets 28-24 with 2:20 to go. i'd take that--- any game, anytime! HOF QB beats Jets. no shame. we are LUCKY to have Mangini. if you can't realize that then u havn't been a Jet fan since 1965. period.
i dont know anyone who would call a HC a coward for kicking a fg on 4th down. the team played their hearts out, no doubt about it. i dont know why the defense was giving the colts such a huge cushion underneath on the winning drive. i could understand not wanting to get beat deep, but they just ate up yds underneath. that along with letting them get oob on a few of those passes was wierd. it seemed like they were playing prevent, or an over zone. the vilma play, to me at least, it didnt look like he had it, and he didnt make any noise about it after they called it inc. i think if he caught the ball, he would have had mangini challenge the play.
im not trying to bash him. i like him a lot. what im saying is he made a glaring mistake, even at the time, at least some of you had to think that those 3 points were going to bite us in the ass...and i wasnt around in 1965...born in 77.
so you meant me? well, how can i argue with such amazing logic like 'shut up'. your wit has made me rethink my entire thought process.
good one...funny guy. Mangini is the game manager, he put the team in a position to win. if you are going to blame him for the defense, play-calling, etc., give him some of the credit for having HIS team with a lead with 60 seconds to play.
