As I pointed out in a previous thread a lot of GG members are a bit naive. The contingent of players who like Vick are there, but to come out and say how they feel would be asking for FO trouble. Hmmm.. Why don't we all go tell our Boss how we really feel ....wonder what would happen lol.
Anyway, I believe the official naming press conference will be here in 2 weeks.

If players think Vick should be the starter, and Rex names Geno the guy, why would that necessarily change if Vick is outplaying Geno at practice? Not saying that's happening.

Geno is the starting quarterback. Vick is here to push Geno. I mean at this point it should be obvious. Rex doesn't need to announce anything until it's the right time. Not when Cimini and Mehta want him to.

If Geno plays well he should get the job over Vick, whose often injured, and is only getting older. Lets see it fully play out first.

Yeah I didn't really explain why I have doubt and I can't fully explain why either. There's just nagging feeling I have that Vick, even though he had past success, with MM and should be the better QB, won't be the better QB. Whether that be because both Geno and Vick will be bad or Geno will turn out to be good, I don't know. Just a nagging gut feeling I have.

I think if he names the starter by the 3rd pre season game we are in good shape.

You guys realize that he never named a starter at all last year, right? I'm pretty sure someone still played quarterback for us. Wouldn't shock me at all we're playing Oakland without ever having announced one. And it's not going to make a lick of difference.

I think Mark Sanchez writhing in pain was the naming of the starter.

And you'd think the other guy in this year's competition telling anyone who'll listen that Geno is the starter would be considered naming the starter, but apparently unless Rex screams it through a bullhorn it doesn't count.

Have you taken a poll among the players? Have you consulted Ms.Cleo?
What about Simms? I have heard the contingent of players backing him is ready to revolt if he doesn't get a fair shot.

If you say you hate people who criticize Woody, that sounds like a defense of him to me.

Speaking for myself I have never said Woody micromanages the Jets, and yes, he is not Jerry Jones. But neither is he a hands off owner. There is more than enough evidence, such as requiring last off season that the new GM retain Ryan, that he involves himself in major team decisions. He is in any event the owner of the team, and ultimately responsible for the performance of the team. As such he is fair game to be criticized, and quite simply you do not have information regarding his non-involvement that justifies absolving him, as you do.

The comparison to any US president and crime rates in a specific city is off the point, due to the nature of Our Federalism.

And ftr I don't think one need be a homer to be a good fan.

You can be optimistic and loyal without being a blind homer. I've criticized things about the team plenty of times, I just don't believe in bashing players with insults and badgering, especially when they are young and developing. This is something only the worst kind of fans will do. No, I don't hate people who criticize Woody. Just the opinions of folks that insult him over things he has nothing do with and act like he's a puppet master controlling things that he doesn't control (ie Tebow decision, people state it as fact but there's no evidence whatsoever). And no I don't consider you one of those people, but you have stated multiple times that Tebow was a Woody move, with no real justification for it. So what if he kept Rex. That's very likely one of the few decision he's ever made aside from maybe hiring Tannebaum. There was no GM at the time, so yeah, the decision was his and it was the right one. Rex haters will disagree, but that's their problem. I know the bar is set low, but Woody has the best win% of any Jets GM in history and Rex has the best win% of any Jets coach aside from Parcels (which I haven't looked up lately, but Rex could be ahead if you count playoff wins). Apparently Idzik didn't disagree with Woody's decision because he agreed to take the job and decided to keep him at the end of the year.
