That will never happen. But I really hope it does. The Jets play the Raiders every season. I'd get to see them every other year. Never happen.
This could be real, the Raiders need a new home, and they ARE NOT going to LA, no team is moving to LA, NONE. The league wants to expand, so if we do see a team in LA, its going to be a new franchise, not an existing. The league would control the new team to so all 32 teams would split the revenue and when it gets sold they would all get a piece of the pie, while if they move a team to LA, they get nothing.
Oh look another city to threaten to move to to force the city and the citizens to take the majority of the monetary burden of building a new stadium. Minnesota was going to LA, St. Louis was going to LA, I'm going to remain skeptical on all these teams are moving talks.
This. It's amazing we allow professional sports teams to basically extort municipalities to the tune of billions of dollars.
Seriously, am curious as to why not? Not a big enough population to support the 3rd Texas team? No appetite from the political base? It seems the Spurs have one of the best supporting fan bases in the NBA, no translation to the NFL? _
Yeah but sometimes those municipalities are corrupt and fight back fuck you very much Mr. Sheldon Silver. _
San Antonio has one of the stalest old boy network local governments in the country. It's frankly amazing that they got the AT&T Center built at all, they were trying to just do half-assed renovations on the lame ass Alamodome to compensate before Red McCombs threw some money in. It's been a constant fight between corrupt council people and corrupt state government holding this city back since I have been here, very frustrating. They want to remain a small town and fight expansion, otherwise this would be considered Austin-San Antonio by now, much like Dallas-Fort Worth. And the people here hate their own teams more than Jets fans do. I almost had a fight with a guy 3 rows in front of me at game 1 finals about why I thought the Spurs would kick some ass, the entitled asshole was predictably spreading the fear around the stands like an internet troll. This place is not good people. Fun to hang out here, not fun to be a sports fan. And the local Govt would rather spend a few billion dollars on a worthless 3 mile trolley system than try to bring more professional sports teams here, they want to be a tourist trap instead of a cultural hub.
Ah ok. Never been there, I was always under the impression it was more of a cultural hub like Santa Fe. _
No one is going to LA. The NFL wants to expand the league (add new teams) and Los Angeles is a perfect location for a new team to be placed. The owners also would have to approve the Raiders move, and the owners dont get more money if an already established team moves, but if they add a 33rd team then the other 32 clubs all get a share of the new team. Which might not sound like a lot but if a team got sold for 3 billion then each of the 32 other owners would get roughly 100 million each. That is a ton of revenue. The 31 other owners dont make more money by moving a team, they make the money by adding a team.
