Big surprise, Bon Jovi is a liar. Best goodbuddy of Bill Belichunk wants to buy a division rival and move it to Canadia. http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/...up_has_looked_into_toronto_stadium_sites.html Jon Bon Jovi and potential Bills ownership group reportedly looked into Toronto stadium sites It's probably best to approach the Jon Bon Jovi-potential Buffalo Bills ownership talk with some healthy skepticism. (Like New York's Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, the former Rochester mayor, who has been trolling Bon Jovi on Twitter lately.) We advise skepticism because there was a report earlier this week that the New Jersey rocker wouldn't move the Bills to Canada. Now, from the Associated Press's John Wawrow, comes a report that Bon Jovi's group "has conducted a feasibility study into buying the NFL franchise and building a stadium in Toronto." The study was commissioned about a year and a half ago. That has included two stadium sites in Toronto and another in Missassauga. "We have undertaken engineering and design studies," Andy Bergmann, a founder of an investment firm in Toronto. "All of our work has been about a generic site and whether it was more rural or urban. We are aware of potential sites in the western NY and southern Ontario region, and are in fact meeting with two Buffalo area developers next week. No feasibility studies have been undertaken on any site to date." Remember: There's a $400 million penalty if the Bills are relocated before their lease with the state and county ends in 2022. Meanwhile, what's next for the Bon Jovi group to attempt to win ownership of the Bills? "[On Tuesday], prospective bidders must submit to Morgan Stanley what's called 'a first letter of indication,' which includes their initial and non-binding bid to purchase the team, said a person familiar with the sale process. ... The person said the firm will review the bids and determine which prospective groups will be eligible to proceed to the next stage of bidding. The list of remaining groups allowed to move forward is anticipated to be identified by the end of next week, the person said. Those groups will then be granted further access to the Bills financial date to better determine their bid."
It doesn't just make Bon Jovi a liar but also it makes Chris Mortensen a liar... like a bold faced liar. They are supposedly close friends, ventured into the Arena League together, etc. Mortensen is a Buffalo-native and I would say 2 or 3 three weeks ago I was listening to Buffalo sports radio, they asked Mortensen about Bon Jovi buying the Bills. He acknowledged that Bon Jovi wanted to buy the team and was adamant that he told him that he wouldn't move the team. The sports-jocks questioned this, considering he is pairing with a group of Toronto investors (like duh...) and Mortensen said point blank that Bon Jovi told him directly that any speculation he wants to move the team out of Buffalo is false. He went on to say how good a owner he would be and how buffalo should embrace his bid.. .all bullshit. My take: He and his group obviously want to move the team out of Buffalo. There's not a chance in hell his group, the real money players, all Toronto people would actually want to keep the team in Buffalo. But- theres a lot of bureaucratic B.S. associated with selling the team. It's written that it's not to be sold to anyone publicly announcing intentions to move the team. Also they have a lease at the moment and the NFL isn't going to want anyone to buy the team and then announce they will move them, yet still have to be playing in Buffalo for the duration of the lease. That would be ugly. Fans would tear that stadium apart, etc. Kind of like the end of Cleveland, except worse because it would be for a longer period of time. So- Bon Jovi and his pals are going to say all the right things as this process goes along. Get ready for it "we are committed to Buffalo, etc." all while having a back door plan to move the team to Toronto. (this report of stadium exploration in Toronto all but proves it) If they buy it- and I think they will - his investors are LOADED and fuckhead owners like Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft will want to buddy with Bon Jovi in their little owners country club. They will keep the team in Buffalo until there is an out in the lease in a few years. By then they will have put out a bullshit plan to build an incredibly expensive new stadium in downtown Buffalo, with NYS tax payers footing most of the bill of course... Of course it won't go through because it will be impractical on purpose and they will move the team to Toronto, blaming New York state. You heard it here folks....
the team isn't even well attended when playing in Toronto, why even contemplate moving them there? i don't think ontario or canada at large is suddenly gonna take to a new NFL team if they haven't cared as it is.
Oh how sweet it would be for the Bills to get shipped off to Toronto. The whole city of Buffalo would grind to a halt, motorized wheelchairs clogging every supermarket lane and sidewalk as those fat fucks cry fat fucking tears into their mediocre wings.
I remember reading that the NFL wants to move a team to London, England. Do you think that maybe it could be the Bills? The NFL did say that they wanted to move a team from an Eastern conference....
Talking of which, here's what Woody had to say to about a London franchise. This probably hasn't been picked up yet because it is a UK reporter and UK site. For Jets fans, the last question may be of the most interest. Didn't think it was worth it's own thread, but maybe it is. http://britviewnfl.com/2014/07/24/new-york-jets-owner-london-could-get-nfl-franchise-ahead-of-la/ Think the Jags are far more likely to be a future London franchise than the Bills, given that they've committed to London for a number of years.
There are Buffalo farms all over there now. Asian Water Buffalo were brought over in the last 20-30 years or so I think
I live upstate.. my team is the Jets... and moving this team would be devastating. I don't want to see them move at all despite hating them for 30 years. They have great fans and I would argue more hardcore than most Jet fans........
As much as I hate the Bills, destroying a US city to benefit one in Canada is not my idea of "sweet". F_ck Canada and F_ck the NFLs desire to put teams in other countries. This would be just the first step to teams in Europe and 7am EST football games.
Can confirm: went to college upstate, Bills fans are crazy. They'll freeze their tits off for a shitty team and love it.
I like how he said as a visiting team.. Meaning we won't have to give up a home game in New York.. I'm all for it.. Just to visit though.. Once..
